Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Just for anyone who cares- We leave our 2 blue plastic plug in type heated buckets from fleet farm outside right in the open and they haven't froze yet. Just in case someone needs to get heated waterers I thought I'd add my 2 cents

Well... the heated base is kaput I think. Wasn't even warm to the touch when I checked and the water in the bottom was frozen. Have to go out with some warm water a few times today I guess,

I put a cut up acorn squash in two suet feeders and hung them in the coops. Give the girls something to peck at and keep busy with today.
Where do you get suet feeders? I think I would like to do that for the chickens. Maybe the goats won't eat all their stuff. Are you the one hatching eggs? I am on day 11. I think everything is going well...how about yo

cold, boring, and slow at work. A person would think more furnaces would break right about now! Hoping that it does not happen to any of you though!

Saw this posted on FB http://www.poultryshowcentral.com had some stuff on shows and swaps including one this weekend in Kendall. Does anyone know anything about that swap, is it worth the hour drive?

Joe

Quote: I picked them up cheap at Fleet, but I think Menards has them too. Only a buck or two I think. I have a bunch left from when I had rabbits. I used them for their hay so they didn't waste so much of it.

Yep, I'm on day 7 now I think. Pulled out the one egg that had a hairline crack yesterday. I had put clear nail polish on it to try sealing it and hoped for the best. Well it started to stink so out it went. I will candle tomorrow or Thursday and see how things look.

Thanks for the welcome. Ang. Has been telling me to get on here for quite sometime. I only have 5 hens and the most beautiful rooster. I moved them from the coop into my spa room last week....they seem to be weathering the cold and the spa room is like the ritz compared to the coop. (Though not heated..but very bright and sunny and somewhat insulated). I am currently laid off of work until apr. 1st or there about...and been thinking chicks since I have the time for the extra care right now.
I also have the cutest best potbellied pig ever. She's 8 months now...housetrained and I've taught her a few tricks. She really brightens my days. Before winter she use to hide and ambush the chickens...its like she pretends she's a bowling ball and their the pins...she doesn't chase them...only likes to break up the gossip sessions...its hysterical to watch....we have several other pets...but that is all for farm animals. ;-) ....for now that is.

Not sure this trade show is ever gonna end. It might be warmer here, but my thoughts are with everyone at home in this nasty weather!!! Having the iPad to entertain myself is a bonus :). Reading the thread helps pass the time during the slow periods.

I may have lost a few posts....how is the prolapsed chicken?? I have seen some horses prolapse and it usually doesn't go well without stitches....

David.. I love your Chow Chow!!! We used to raise them when I was growing up. Love them!

Well, time to work some more 3 1/2 hours left today!!!!
