Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

not sure about those, ask lots of questions first!

Happy Easter, hope everyone had a good one! We just saw the last of our guests out the door, chores are done, those wanting a snack are getting one and our house is returning to normal

. Have to get the kids in bed a little bit earlier tonight as tomorrow they are back to school.

Finished our last batch of maple syrup this morning before starting to cook Easter dinner....we ended up with 27- 8 oz jars this batch. Probably will pull taps tomorrow as the trees are budding.

Tomorrow will remove the eggs from the turners and put onto the shelves for hatching. Waiting to see what the quail eggs do as well.

Going to hang out and relax!

Waiting waiting waiting

I had a Polish frizzled Polish hatch I think. Its still wet but it doesn't appear to have a topknot? I guess I've seen the silkies with vaulted skulls at birth so was expecting that...?

I have a woman itching to get chicks. She calls me on EASTER to see if she can pick them up. She called and left ms a message yesterday. I called her back and told her my hatch was moving slow and I'd call her when i had chicks. So that means she should call me today and harass me...

Cute babies everyone!!!

Heather...I had three hatch, but only two had the lumps on their heads. The other is fairly flat. Same size and shape, but no knot on top! Weird. Wonder how common it is?

No
ok more questions...then I have two barred rock deli, the one in in pic is bigger than its friend, but friend has white spot...is white spot more roo indication in BR? JJ- here are pics of your cukoo maran(bigger) and blue egg layer on right sitting( still has a little gunk on its head as it was the one that got sticky when it zipped out.) Second pic are the two olive eggers- they are more red/gold than yellow compared to white rocks, one has stripes, other does not. what will they look like when grown? if I feather sexed them correctly (probably not accurate, but I tried) they are both girls. Love their strawberry blond color!
The last 2 look like they they will be red red red. Buckeye Red and the black ones may be colored egg layers too. anybody have muffs or beards?
Actually...the red one on the left has muffs but no beard, but the yellow banded one above may have a little beard...

JJ those are some of the worst possible chickens to call Marans,,,,,yellow legs, no leg feathering, non compliant colors, then the poster seems to want buyers to believe these birds have won egg competitions ,,,sad,,just sad someone might fall for that line of BS

I'm going to flag that ad,,,thanks for pointing it out

I agree! Not even close to a Marans.

I don't think there's any need to flag that ad. Nobody is going to pay $45 for those roosters.

I really don't care if they were giving them away, it's the misinformation thing that is wrong,,,,the Marans have enough problems going forward with all of the poor breeding/selling for the quick $$$ early on when they were all the rage for egg color,,,now it takes years to breed birds back to the SOP

And the reference to a possible NEW egg color. Serious? These are just barnyard mixes. And that's coming from someone that loves her barnyard mixes.

Good evening! NIce article about the shroud BL. Very interesting for sure.
We had a nice time in Appleton. I am very tired! GLad chores are done for sure...soon I am off to bed.

Those birds look just like all my cross breed roos! I think that is what they are...perhaps he thinks if he asks a lot for the birds people will think they are worth that much? I like the "not for soup" part...as if! I really like the striping on number 4.

The people just got done watching the Walking Dead. YUK. Glad it's over for the season!
Kristip--I LOVE the pics of your son and the basket of cuteness! Adorable. The pics of the Great Ongoing Easter Egg Hunt are cute too! I plan on hiding a few for the kids when they come tomorrow. Probably they didnt get to have much Easter fun.

JJ I thought what you said was funny! (and Zeek AND Deli too!) Everyone can take turns being funny in my book.
I sure hope your egg guy calls Jim...

I cant concentrate any more--way too tired! I will resume tomorrow...sweet dreams everyone! TerriOwishingforachocolatebunnyaboutnow
