Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi All!

kj....Glad the chicks made it!

BBP... Sorry about your ducks

cuties.... those are nice looking birds especially for being at that awkward stage. They should be beauts!

CS... Barbra Streisand Is known for a imperfect "beak".

Jim.... That pen is coming along nicely.... so, when you goina come and build mine? No snow here, just mud and ponds where they don't belong!

Colton... very cute little brother! So tiny he looks like a sweet baby doll

The whole family looks great too! Glad your a prod big brother!
Is there a reason for 6' X 7' X 5'? seems like an odd size. Each bird should have at least 2' of roost space to be comfortable, more is better. Is there going to be a run or free range? What are you going to use for materials? Just things to think about. Jim is our pro builder, maybe he can chime in.

Delish... sounds like your planing another "hen party" sounds cool!

irish... Yes, it it strange what we do for our bird! DH brought home some "Affy Tapples" from work that were going bad so went through 2 cases, pitched the mushy ones and washed the caramel off the rest so the birds could have them. As I was washing I was thinking "can't let the guineas have caramel! A guinea on a sugar high would NOT be good!"

Well, I'm fading and still have eggs to pack up!
Night All!

Guess I'm not going to go to the swap... probably kick myself but wasn't going after birds anyway.

For those of you with snow yet....

Guys I got a question, do you think a 6 ft. by 7 ft. coop will hold 13 chickens? I got to design a coop for my friends family and they want a coop for 13 standard sized chickens.

I have a 7'9 x 10 A frame coop with 14 chickens and 7 ducks with room to spare. I would say 6 x 7 would be big enough. But remember to have extra space for adding more to the flock ;) .

ETA I just wanted to add, that 6x7 will give you 42 sq ft and will give 3.23 sq ft per bird for 13 full size chickens.

good morning folks, just a dusting of snow here overnight, still waiting for those April showers

I'm waiting for my buyer to call me to confirm before I head out, got an early morning email saying she was sick and didn't know for sure if she could meet me, I'm like "yeah these chicks need to take a ride this morning" geeze

cute cartoons Cind

JJ not sure if feral cats need a high carb diet

FT that CL post confirms my statement about "the 5%" I'm not defending that company and what may have happened in Mercer, but IF indeed that customer is correct the driver that made the deliveries in question is out of a job and will be going to court. More likely the customer will be facing a slander suit since Amerigas is a nationwide firm with an established reputation to defend. Every single delivery is documented using state certified meters on the trucks, this is a perfect example of why those laws are in place. Since propane is considered a hazardous material every gallon is accounted for on the supply end.

Good morning!
Colton- your family is adorable. Congratulations on your little brother and good luck with your hatch and coop!
BigFam- I was thinking the same thing. Funny how the mama bear instinct just comes out
Cindy- funny pictures!
Jim- I like your coop-very nice
Oh boy- so much to do today and four little helpers to come with me all day...
Grocery shopping, birthday gift shopping, TSC to get my ducklings, and I suppose somewhere along there they will be hungry. Plus we live about 40min from any kind of Walmart or things like that.... should be a long day. If I could I would probably want a glass of wine when I get back. ( and no Terri number 5 is NOT on the way. The factory is shut down

I broke my duckling heat lamp last night. I thought about sharing the chicks lamp with the ducklings by putting it on top of the divider so the light shines down on either side, but I started to worry that it was too close to the wood and would start a fire, so I put in a 65W bulb in the lamp.(all I had) They seem to be ok this morning, but when I go to TSC to get the ducklings I will have to pick one up. $15 dollars each at my local hardware store. Wonder if it is cheaper there?
Well- better get going. Lots to do....
Have a good day everyone

I talked with my dad (amazing carpenter) who is building an addition on our house, finished the basement, and he said that I should make it 6 by 8 so it will be less cutting. I have also decided to take out the storage area my friend wanted but won't need to make it taller, now average height is 6 ft. I will have 2-3 6 ft. roost for his chooks. I got the plans mostly drawn out.

Cool beans, Colton! We want to see the pics when you're done!

Cin - those cartoons were cute!!

We're continuing to have very light snow flurries here - it's melting as it hits most surfaces - along with peeks of sun. This is some crazy stuff!

The chickens went crazy over the fresh bread. They were climbing all over each other to get the treats. (Of course, I cut it all up into small bits for them!)

I'm off to open the store - stop by if you're in the neighborhood, I'm just south of the Red Mill.
