I am sure you will get many more turns at changing diapers in the near future. I always looked at diaper changes like calf roping in the rodeo. Many of the hand movements are the same and both should be judged by how fast you complete them. It used to make my wife crazy when I would finish a diaper change and throw my hands in the air like the cowboys and ask if it was a new record. Both kids thought it was fun anyway.

CC I don't worry about the light being on, the chicks will announce if they are cold,,,,I have the 100W heater at one end and a 60W regular bulb at the other in a 26"X48" tote, chicks are spread out, some sleeping, some eating, some drinking, and by the looks of things all are crapping,,,no thermometer,,,,,, just happy healthy chicks

Went to TSC this morning and picked up my ducklings. They were all out of both kinds of ducklings, and they first got them in yesterday! They had my four in the back in their own little brooder. And they gave me a heat bulb for free for my trouble they said

I do seem to be having some serious separation anxiety, though.

I know they went to a great, loving home, though.

Are you certain that is a Trumpet vine? I have several (I moved the main plant and did not get all the roots...) and I have never seen leaves like that on mine..... You could plant Lilacs,,,,, just keep trimming them into a hedge shape, or Bridal Wreath is a good choice too.... I have no idea what is toxic to chickens, just tossing ideas out there.... I could ask the in-laws, they are Master Gardeners....

Zeke, I drive that way 4 days a week, I work in Oshkosh. Just look out for the little red Jetta speeding down the highway around 7:40 in the morning! I have 3 call ducks that have been sent 'up river' thanks to a lovely city resident who tattled on me for having them. All of my neighbors loved them and did not have issues with them at all. I have them at my in-laws place, they have a lovely little place out in the country and are happy to have my ducks keep them entertained. I have a Pastel (Buff colored) named Taffy, a Black named Jules (from psych), and a bibbed black male named Checkers ( I have no idea why my children named him this...) We did have a fourth duck that was a tri colored black/white/grey named Maggie but she ingested something poisonous last summer and passed away.

I am happy to report that two of her babies where adopted by one of Amyable's friends and I do get pics of them once in a while.

Apparently the little bar and grill by the Kwik Trip at the II and HWY 45 exchange had a few white deer in a roadside zoo, and either the guy let them go or they escaped. So the deer I see are from there. I would love to catch them around sunset when the grass has come in a little bit more. It would be beautiful.

I decided that I needed to go for a walk this afternoon....... 3 miles later I was pretty tired..... sleep should come easy tonight! Last night my DH sounded like a motor running without all the valves opening up! I have to start walking every day to work on my 'obesity'. I had to do a health assessment for the insurance, and since I am 0.1% over my BMI limit for my height, I was told I was obese
(not overweight; straight to obesity).....

I see the future now; insurance premiums based on how unhealthy or unfit you are, or just dropping you completely if you are over certain limits or engage in certain behaviors. Thank you feds for messing with our healthcare!

Too bad I already made dinner Terri, I would LOVE to have some of your Leg-o-Lamb! (insert drooling smiley with knife and fork)

If my chicks arrive..that sounds perfect..they are due the last day of this month to hatch..so as long as the hatch goes well it should be perfect!!

I have 4 splash Orps out 1 quail (of course it had to wait till I left) 2 blue Orps and two Marans Piped while in class today. I only had one pip when I left. That is a ton of activity in a short time. I have two Orps left to pip and three Marans left to pip. No Marans have hatched at all yet...ugh

trumpet vine is toxic to chicken they say..I do have one and I have not has any problems?

and if you want one you can have a vine from mine. It is also called cows itch. Pretty plant when it is growing.

I say grow sunflowers too..

That looks like potato leaves/ squash vine/ or wild grape leaves. Our trees are really close to the top of our fence, so whatever it is I can't have it growing into the trees.

They are enjoying the FF! Man they are gobbling through it!

So DH made a match of beer today...BONUS! When he makes beer, I get the spent grains & hops (plus the leftover liquid mixed with grains) and eventually the sludge (AKA dead yeast). I've got the grains & hops in the fridge to cool, but I mixed a tablespoon of the liquid in with the FF for the 2 older sets of birds along with some sprouted mung dahl (DH was planning on making it for dinner tonight therefore soaked them and left them too long and they started fermenting-chickens luck out again) and spelt berries. Gonna be some happy birdies tonight! I don't want to give the newbie babies too much new at first, so I opted not to give anything but FF for dinner tonight to them.

Chicks are sooo funny. Feel like such a newbie, well, I am lol. I could sit and watch them for hours, but I guess taking care of my human chicks comes first

Mmmooorreeee of that wretched white stuff today..ggrrrr..rode the horses in winter gear and long johns....wrong, just wrong!

Tortured the eldest today, confirmation is coming up and dress clothes including a tie (omg) was in order . Considering he thinks Clean sweatpants and a Clean T-shirt qualifies as "nice" it was quite a step. Well he didn't die...but apparently I will never be forgiven for square toed black dress shoes... O'well..add it to the list i guess
