Does anyone have black currants, red choke berry, gooseberry, rasp/blackberries, ground cherry, asparagus, ramps, rhubarb (that actually gets red and grows pretty tall), bridal wreath, honeyberry, or blueberries that they'd like to pass on????

I'd be willing to accept any of these!!!!!

WoW, that is sad all the way around. So how long in between the pit getting hit by the car and them getting out again and getting shot?

I've been scanning CL a lot lately and what really bothers me is all of the dogs that are in need of new homes AND ARE NOT FIXED !!! Ok, I know I know a lot of men don't believe in neutering BUT there is such an over population of dogs that need to be RE HOMED... which I think is a joke too. What the Heck is wrong with people re homing all of these dogs. I know situations do come up but for heavens sake THINK people.... don't get a dog if you have no idea what the H3LL you are getting into.
And the amount of Pit Bulls out there looking for homes is ridiculous !!!! I have nothing against them but I think insurance companies do so how often are these poor dogs going to get re homed ???
Ok, something just hit my nerves when I read this post of unaltered dogs !!! Sorry but it is a sore spot. There is actually a person in Antigo with a wanted add that says she has a shitzu/poodle or some kind of small dog mix female and is in search of ANY small male dog to use for stud. She said she only wants one pup and the studs owner can have the rest or ???? She wants a litter before she spays her dog !!!!!! She doesn't even care what the father is or what happens to the other Pups !!!!! OMG..... I truly truly dislike some people a lot of the times !!!!

Ok, calming down now. I don't think I mentioned it but I have been volunteering at a spay and neuter clinic up here. It is a mobile spay/neuter program called "The Fix is In" They have a van with a trailer with the Letter M. A. S.H. (mobile animal spay hospital (I think that is what it stands for)lol
It is such a rewarding thing to be doing... Plus I get to see all of the doggies and kitties !!!
I had my kitty spayed last year by them and decided to volunteer. I don't have any hands on with the animals..... they have one full time vet and two full time techs doing that. It is very professional. I was really impressed. The woman who started the program volunteers all of her time.
So what I mostly do is wash all of the surgical instruments after each procedure !!! Hey someone needs to do it and I take that job very seriously, I wash and wrap them and do it they way I would want them done if it were my dog or cat being fixed. I stand there all day and depending on which town were at and how they set up the room I get a birds eye view of everything that's going on. I'm to far away to see the actual surgery but it is so cute to see all of the kitties knocked out with all four sticking straight up in the air while they get shaved and vacuumed before being brought over to the surgical table.

The part I really like to see is when the people come to pick up there babies, a feeling I've felt myself... they walk in and look around searching for their pet and look so worried then relieved when they see that Fluffy is fine !!! It sure is a good feeling knowing these animals have such caring parents!

So anyone in the NE WI area being, Rhinelander, Antigo, Crandon, Weston, Wausau, Medford and I think Tomahawk and maybe Minoqua the program has a clinic to get this done. The spay/neuter includes a free rabies shot, ear cleaning and nail trim. Regular Vaccinations are also available for a discounted price as well. Some counties get grants and recently cats in some counties could get neutered for $5.

Ok, I'm off my soap box !!! For now anyway !!!

I love it that you volunteer to help those critters! Sadly, there are so many puppy mills and people who abuse and keep animals in horrible conditions. Bless your heart!

FT, I think the same can be said for almost any pet nowadays. Thoughtless people get an animal and never bother to research all the care/responsiblility involved in caring for said animals. They just "want them", or their kids do. Then when the animal does what comes natural to them, all of a sudden it's a bother or a chore or someone elses fault for their own ineptitude. So then they try to pawn them off onto others, when the animal is already damaged or has already learned unwanted behaviors. People just do not think. And it is always the animal who winds up suffering in the end. I'm shutting up now.

By the way, good for you, girl!

There are a bunch of people down here trying to sell unfixed cats on CL too. One said they had an unaltered male AND a female that were 7-8 months old. Well gee, ya think the female is preggers? Nice of them to pawn that off onto someone!

I agree with you completely CC, people want designer dogs or something that looks the way they want it to. They rarely look at what the background of the breed is and are suddenly surprised when the JRT kills the cat..... or the beagle runs off.

Just an FYI Irish, I have not forgotten about you; just busy right now! You do not happen to know where I could get fresh goat milk do you?

I should go to bed...... at least the DH is not cutting cords too loudly tonight.

By the looks of it it doesn't look like there is an end in site. Their schedule is full. They limit it to 25 procedures a day. There are never less then that. Full house every time and by the looks of what's out there on CL and Petfinder.com it doesn't look like there is an end in sight.
It's a good thing all of the dogs the shelters bring in are already spoken for or I'd be coming home with them. I do ask them all the time if they have any poodles !!!

It wouldn't be homeless for long !!!

You know, I just might be able to find someone for you. A friend mucks out someones goat pens in exchange for the manure for his garden. I'll give him a call and see if they sell it. Stay tuned!

I can't believe it. I was just now able to get back online. My broadband decides if and when I have service. I have no choice in the matter no matter what provider I use. I'm just in one of the dead zones and am lucky to get any type of a connection !!!
Anyway, I tried to post earlier to say, yes I will be in Racine on May 18th. I have to check with my niece to see if she needs me to babysit on Saturday. She is a Nurse Practioner at the Cancer Center of America in Zion IL so she works weird hours. All depends on if her hubby is going to take advantage of me being down there to babysit. Sometimes he goes to LaCrosse to see his family and does a lot of hunting with his brothers.
But being a Saturday I can see if my sister (Grandma) or Grandpa can babysit so I can join in on the Chick Cluck gathering !!!

just a quick good night note.. 52 posts to read,, cripes, miss one day and this is what happens ??

I spent last night in the hospital,, had chest pains,, turns out I am just fine.. all tests are negative.. Dr didn't know what it was.. suspected esophegal reflux.. good to know I am in good shape otherwise.. had a real good rest there,, had a few goofy dreams, too..

tired now,, will catch up tomorrow..

there is a chick in the bottom of bator #3.. IKD where it came from.. ? maybe Annie put it in there from the hatcher ? IDK ..if it an early hatch, it is REALLY early..
