Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hey any fellow horse owners. I am going to be placing an order at Jeffers for some equimax dewormer $10 a tube and if anyone would want me to add to the order I could if you don't mind waiting till the bash to get it. Just let me know and then you can paypal me the money when I place the order (cause I wasn't born rich, I was born beautiful)

Just let me know. Because you have to spend $60 to get free shipping (which I will be doing for my own order by the way) I just thought if anyone wanted something and didn't have $60 they needed to spend I would be more then happy (just cause I'm a nice person, even though some of you many not think that) ad it to my order.

Well, even you chicken people might want or need something. Just let me know by midnight. I need to get dewormers and vaccines. I might shop around for the vaccines yet. I can always put in two orders one for the dewormers and the vaccines later.

By the way, what are all you guys doing for vaccines these days? My farrier scared the heck out of me. He lost a young horse a few years ago to not West Nile virus but to one of the other mosquito born illness's. He had just bought the foal so he thinks the foal was exposed to it before he brought it home. But even still, scary stuff.

All of my horses have been vaccinated within the past few years for west nile except for one of my ponies and the two new donkeys I brought home last fall.

It sure adds up getting them all vaccinated. Especially for the ones that will need two vaccines to get them up to par.

I'll be looking for some short dated vaccines but they usually sell out very fast.

Oh and one more thing, then I have to get ready to go to town with ET.

What hatchery would you recommend and why ? My niece will be ordering within the next month or so as well as my neighbor. So if you all want to share your experiences let me know.

Oh and anyone know anything about the crested ducks. It says on one of the hatchery websites that it is genetic . So care to share if you know anything more about the genetics on crested ducks and geese? Are they more fragile then non crested? Do they breed true crested when you breed them crested to crested ?

Ok gotta go for now !!! Later

I didn't realize my isabel project orpington hen had bred with my bantam cochin roo, so I've been hatching a lot of mutts. Most have been black or blue, but yesterday this hatched:

Isn't it just gorgeous? It is gold laced orp x lavender orp x lemon blue cochin. My inexperienced feather sexing tells me rooster, but we wil see.

They feed the dogs almost every day. My daughter is very good at picking up poo. My son is still learning at 3. Im all about...if you want it, your responsible for it! Hubby n I just had a "heated discussion" the other night. He thinks I make the kiddos do too many chores! We have a lot of nice thing (animals) for them. I think it shou ld just be expected...
I want to give them everything I wanted growing up, and then some. Plus its a perk that I get to have them too lol.

You'll never regret teaching your kids to be responsible from the get-go, Mel! Chores are not just work - it enriches their experiences, teaches them a lot including compassion, keeps their minds active, gives them something to look forward to, etc. You can't lose and neither can they. You're a GREAT mom for raising them up right!

Aawww shux. Thanks eileen!

JustJohn, I thought I lost one of the reds today! I introduced them to the coop yesterday without any fuss. This morning I let them out to graze but one stayed behind in the coop. I left to do some grocery shopping for a couple of hours and when I got back they all rushed me hoping for some treats. I saw that the red who went out in the AM was missing from the mob and the other was hanging around me, sounding rather mournful. Apparently, she is a wanderer. I found her on the other side of the barn, far away from the rest and she was also talking to me like she lost a friend. Surprisingly, she let me pick her up easily and I reunited her with her BFF. There was happy talk after that between Michelle and Eleanor. Silly girls!

BBP, That's the very cutest chick!!

Glad to hear that some of those horses are getting taken care of!

CC, I second your thoughts about the weather, but happy we didn't get as much as was predicted! My daughter (who lives in Evanston, IL) said they got over 5 inches and some people spent over 3 hours getting to work this morning because of all the standing water. Lake Shore Drive was closed and sections of several expressways were also closed. We got away easy this time!

We give our own shot's. My husband is also a farrier, and he is good at the shot's. Me...not so much. Anyway, last few years I have not vaccinated for West Nile. I try to keep them well sprayed with bug repellant, and I don't really have any horses in the most vulnerable age brackets although my gelding is getting up there. My husband was seeing some problems with the vaccine in some of his customer's horses (definitely not emphirical data). One of my neighbors got a bad batch and had football size holes in a several of her horses haunches. Was really disgusting, but they lived.

Edited to say thanks for the compliments on the horsies! And glad the neglected horses are finally getting some relief!

The abuse story made the news! http://m.kare11.com/topnews/article?a=1022082&f=1251

I know a mare and her foal got taken by a rescue and one other pregnant mare was taken because she was in too poor of condition to cross state lines. The womans son took some, and I'm not sure where the others went. Turns out she has another herd of about 20 in Polk county (this herd was in Dunn county and Barron county). I'm not sure what's happening to them at this point.
this did not work for me..

BBP: Glad something was finally done about those horses!! (Delish-The link worked for me?) Also-anything from your friend that is hatching my girls eggs? I was trying to remember how long it has been-would think we are getting close to D-day?
