Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

How old are they? Do you have any neighbors with chicks? If they are older i would think corn and sunflower seeds would be ok for a day or two-and vitamins if you have them? I would be hesitant if they are less than a month old. IMHO

Ok- I know it should not happen, but it did, and now I am hoping someone can give me some advice...I ran out of chick feed. I am hoping to go tomorrow, but I might not be able to go until Monday. Does anyone have an idea for emergency feed? Oatmeal, sunflower seeds, rice, corn silage? Anything?

how about small pieces of bread or cooled cooked oatmeal or rice , you may need to provide small grit to help them grind up the different feed.

If you don't have chick starter feed yet, you can feed them for a day or two on instant oatmeal, flaked infant cereal, or other whole-grain cereals. You can put whole grains (rice, wheat, barley, old-fashioned oats, anything) into the blender and blend them slightly. Do not blend completely to a powder --- the feed should have some "grits" in it. Leave the feed with them all the time --- they will stop eating when they have had enough.
