Like Bigz said, Colton, sometimes things happen. It sounds like you are doing things right by the rest of them.

Ang, that pic is so pretty! You should make that into Christmas cards for next year. Beautiful! You can keep the snow, though.

Well, I have a funny story for you all to enjoy at my expense. I let out the oldest orps to range this afternoon and the teens came out if the grow out into the lower portion where the eldest orps live. After they had scratched around for a bit and had collected all sorts of goodies, I decided that I'd try to get them out to range with their elders. Well....while I was trying to get them all out, Mr. Gibs (the rabbit) hops out with the last chick. If you remember from his last excursion. ..I had to catch him half way under the fence, drag him back and return him to the coop. Anyways, I am chasing him around the yard trying to catch him, meanwhile the elder orps are chasing the youngens and they are screaming because they are scared and trapped. I am focused only on catching that darn hare who was happily going in circles and me following, birds screaming, me chasing.........Finally I caught the darn rabbit, ushered the orps into the coop and then chased down every last one of the chicks! Phew! I was exhausted. I collected all of the feed trays, filled'em and am done for the night.....

Colton sorry about your chick.
CC-those babies do not like humans. They are still squealing antime I come near, even if I have food.

Benadryl kicking in...must go.....night.......

Wow, five minutes ago I just filled the bowl for the chicks. (A little bean bowl) and I went down to check on them and they were dust bathing in the food. About four of them in a tiny bowl, don't know how they all got in there. The food was all over the floor, but they seem happy to scratch the feed on the ground more so than when it was in the feeder.

Delisha... do you have BCM's? I believe this is the one that was labeled a cherry egger but came out dark with dark legs. Very friendly...pretty sure that comb is screaming roo, just like my other BCM... similar colors is why I asked. Will post pic of the other rocks I have with me still..one white with creamy colors mixed in and other looks more columbian. has spots on tail and back. Any thoughts on sex with the white rocks or wait for a big red comb?

That is a roo on top the other two are pullets..top chicks mom was a cherry egger.. dad is a rock. He looks like his dad. The white rock is very pretty. That bottom one will have nice bulk. Her chest is nice and wide. The columbian looks like a pullet yet stands like a cockerel...very pretty.
