Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Umm...okay...so, yep! Psychodelic Peepazoid, here. Wat up? Kay. I'm new to chickies, as in, only had 'em 2 weeks and 1 day. N'er had 'em before in my whoooole life! Won't tell ya how long THAT is just cuz, well, you know, a woman never tells her age dontcha know? XD

Anywhozit! I was having issues and lost a bunch, but now everything's under control and the remaining ones are doing super! I do intend to get more, but wanted to wait it out and make sure I could figure out what I was doing w/these guys first and get them stabilized and whatnot first. While I'm not against buying day olds, I sure wouldn't mind a few older ones so I can have some eggs right away, even if it's only sporadic. I don't care. I've had a few peeps suggest buying eggs, but I'm not set up for that yet. I know I can get cheap incubaters at Farm & Fleet, but I need to use the money I'd be spending on that to make sure I've got a coop and/or run for the ones I've already got, first.

Ahh, let's see ~ what else shall I say? Kay, how about this? I have: 1 buff laced Polish, 2 gold laced Polish, 1 mottled Houdan, 2 Amerecaunas (Easter Eggers? What's the difference?), 1 Amerecauna/buff Cochin mix, 1 white bantam Cochin, 1 black frizzle bantam Cochin, & 1 black Silkie. All straight runs, so I haven't a clue what I've got. BUT! My white bantam Cochin keeps flying at everyone doing chest bumps and is bigger than the frizzle. Not sure if they're the exact same age, they could be days apart, but someone told me that could be a sign of it being a roo. That and the fact it's bigger. All of my chicks are between 2 12/ to 3 1/2 wks old.

I live in central WI near the Dells, I'm married to a Marine (former Marine, he's out now), been married 15+ yrs and together nearly 18 yrs, and I have 6 kids (5 alive & 1 angel) and 1 grandkid. I used to raise rabbits, just got rid of the last one a few days ago, and have 1 Saint Bernard and 1 Alapaha Blueblood Bulldog.
Welcome!!! An Ameraucana is a pure bred chicken who lays blue eggs. An EE is "mutt" that is another breed of chicken bred with an Ameraucana. It will lay blue, green, pink or light tan eggs.

Hope you enjoy this thread- there are a lot of great people here with tons of information!

Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful day I moved the other 4 ducklings outside with the older ones, and they seem to be getting along just fine. Cleaned out the brooder and now have the 4 week olds, and the 1 week olds together. So far no problems. They are enjoying exploring the bigger space, and the older ones seem to be mothering the little ones. It's really cute!
Here are a few pics of the chooks-

Evening All...Yep good information...the Ameraucana Is an APA breed admitted in1984..they are in eight colors..black, blue, bluewheaten, brown, red, buff, silver, wheaten and white...easter eggers are mutts and come in a mixture under the rainbow like all mutts do....Aracauna is also APA recognized and is a rumpless bird and small around 4lbs...they are available in black, black red, golden and silver duckwing and white.

Welcome to the new folks....still time to make our annual bash the end of the month...check out the thread in my siggy....it's a great time, and a good one is being planned.

The new Buckeyes are really looking good. I'm kinda proud of my project so far. It has a way to go, but heading toward the SOP for sure!

Talked it over with Suzie Cind....she would love to share my tounge with someone that actually wanted it...LOL...I'll keep it froze til you are ready to head home Sunday...that way it will be good and frozen for the ride home....hope you enjoy it.

If you want more less stuff, then we want more, we want more!

I will be taking a trip to northern wisconsin mothers day weekend and can bring the silver spangled hamburg rooster if anyone in that area wants one because the nasty neighbor is threatening me and I need to find him a new home.
Leo wants a road trip!

good eve, I made 2 trips to Menark's today.. first one was to get a piece of 1" pvc and 2 Tees..

I dragged the dog kennel out of the raspberry weeds and lined it up with the new pen.. then I started straightening it up.. I cut the pvc to length, split the 2 tees and made a brace to hold up the netting over the top.. It worked, so back to Menard's and got 8 more sets.. I have most of them in place.. it is not purdy, but it seems functional.. I have to patch the holes where the sections and corners join together, and then in go the guineas.. no more hidden nests for awhile.

I counted guineas the other night.. I think I have 15 of them,, IF they were all in the coop.. otherwise, your guess is as good as mine..

I have a trio of Sebastopol geese that I should sell.. I also have a couple of buffs and some cross bred Africans.. they said that they would like to go live in the Wisc Dells area.. I have some Royal Palm turkeys , too.. and I have a bourbon red Tom and two of his girl friends that I should get new homes for.. at least one of them is laying an egg almost every day.. or else they might be taking turns ??

the BR roo made a half hearted attack at me today.. but I stood my ground and tried to grab him by the neck.. then it was me chasing him around the pen a bit .. after that he crowed a lot, but no more attacks.. I am getting only 3 eggs per day from his 4 hens.. I have to add a couple more hens soon, prolly tomorrow.. I want 6 eggs per day from his girls.. so then I can set 18 to 24 eggs per rotation about every 4 days..
