Ewwwww. The past couple of days I have been smelling cat urine. I thought the litter box just needed cleaning, so I had DD12 clean it. I'm sitting here tonight, still smelling it pretty strong, so I go in to see if DD12 didn't do a good job, I'm sweeping up the litter from te floor, move the boxes, and see the problem. One of the cats missed the box and it soaked into the wood! Ugh. I mopped the area and now have baking soda spread over the area. I'm sure this won't solve the stain/odor, so I'll tackle it with peroxide, bleach or something!
Wow!!!!!! Thats a little harsh,,,,, I hope the peroxide does nt discolor your cat

I am sorry to tell you this ,,but i think you r in for a long summer of very few eggs,,,, Why you ask?

Well,,,when I was younger I used to watch a lot of documentaries and I remember one in particular about coyotes.. I think it was on P.B.S no maybe it was on C.N.N.[ the Cartoon News Network ] yes that was it,,,anyway,, You cant kill a coyote ,,,it cant be done,,doesn t matter what you do,,, You see there was this bird called a Road Runner,,,, and this coyote tried several ways to get im,, Some how the plans always seemed to get twisted and the Willie Coyote would fall prey to his own plot,,, Never seemed to kill him though!!! I saw this program several times,,,always with the same results.. So I think its impossible to kill a coyote cause it was on C.N.N. ,,,must be true........ You might have a better chance at gettin him if you can get Jim to trap one of those huge bionic skunks I ve heard about,,, Maybe at least he would scare him off,,,,, But guard your young children,,,,, they could fall prey to the skunk ...

I hope this helps,, If I can be of any assistance in the future please let me know!!!! Zeke

Nice pot stirring Jim!!!!!! That il teach ya!!

I m like this all the time,,, but i just have to bite my tongue,,, or my typing finger so I don t get into to much trouble...

Zekegointohitthehay......nite,, all
Oh yes....you might be in LOTS of trouble bringing up the "S" word in conjunction with Jim! Good thing you met him already and he likes you! LOL! I loved those coyote stories too...so that is why you can never get 'em huh?

Deli--I have one question...if a "cherry egger" is a high bred and they are only good for a generation why do you say you have them? I am assuming that you only have the watered down genes of them? I am confused...

Vickie--are you saying that you are not coming to the bash? It is the weekend AFTER Memorial Day! If you ARE indeed coming, I could sure use a bale (or even a half) of that barley straw you speak of!

And the bash...I know I am bringing some turkey poults...seems people want them. (they are a cross of Royal Palm, Naragansett and Blue Slate (I believe) I will go and look at my neighbor's turkeys and see for sure. Also gostlings (at least 4) if they hatch

. Buckeye eggs for Lisa to trade for Langshans, a muskovy drake for Frenchie, I feel like I am forgetting something...can you please refresh my memory? Anyone?

Jim--I am hoping you can bring some guineas...I am in charge of getting some for Carol and Kristi! (and me!)

OK--to bed for real now...movie over, kids gone, chores done...still raining and laundry is still wet!
Nighties once again--TerriO

More strange chicken news. I must have shut the garage door this morning with out realizing my bantam cochin rooster and my bantam faverolles hen were in there. I come home today to find them in the stock tank that my chicks are being brooded in! My first thought was oh great, I wonder how many they killed. None. They were just hanging out with them in there. That goofy rooster also sits with that hen when she lays eggs. I have a picture of them together in my rabbits timothy hay bag the other day.
Banty cochins make the best surrogate moms for raising chicks!

Having kids spanning from [almost] 23 on down to a kindergardener, I can't begin to tellyou some of the very serious bulling issues I've dealt with. Some of it gets pretty bad. All I'm going to say is that from a parent TO a parent, do not allow it to continue. That's in reference to you saying you'd have to contact the principal eventually. Please don't. Contact him now. Also- ask your kid how things are on teh school bus.

Holy cow on that car accident! I simply can't imagine! Especially to be behind and watch it all! OMG!

OMG - I'm so tired my eyes are drooping and I'm nodding off. Stupid RLS is already kicking in and I'm just sitting here and not even in bed, yet. Guess my legs are ttrying to get me up and off to bed? LMAO!

G'nite, all!!

Aw Cind, so sorry about the chick.

BBP, I had some girls getting on my case when I was in school. Finally I raised my voice & ripped them a new one. Scared them silly! Never had an issue after that. He just needs to get his confidence up. He doesn't need to get physical with anyone. He just needs to make it appear that he isn't afraid of them. They'll think twice about it then.

Terri, I hear you on the pouring rain all day long! Just when it would stop for a few minutes, the next batch would move in. So terribly sorry to hear about the girl in the accident. How horrible that the family had to witness that.

Must sleep now..............

Hi All... I'm back!

Psyco.... Hummm sounds like that hen should be laying. Although I have some Amer. that took a full year before they laid. Have fum with the family!

dcba... Glad you could help Cassie out... have fun with your birds! Happy b-day to Addi!

Jim... Sounds like the laundry room were I grew up. It was always an adventure!

Dan... Sure sounds like you got chicken issues! Hope you have eggs to put under those broody's so you can rebuild you flock!

cuties... congrats on the hatch!

Delish.... Yea, like I said, I did look it up and no big deal, they grow out of it. It's really rather cute. I was just wondering how common it is in the ones you've seen.

Zeke... Yep, you were on a roll! (Egg roll, pizza roll, log roll....)

cs.... you need an enzyme cleaner for that cat urine. WalMart carries "Kids-n Pets" which works pretty well. Rug Doctor also makes one.

As for the bully issue. Been there, done that, and my kids have too. He can stand up for himself without getting physical. The trick is being patient for the right moment. The best time is when there is a mix of the bully's friends and other classmates. When the bulling starts it's very important that he stays calm and does not cry. Look him in the eye and loudly (with out shouting) Say "I know why you do this" "Picking on kids is the only way you can feel good about yourself" "It's the only way you can feel important" "I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU" "You must really feel like *insert word you would like him to use* to have to pick on other kids" "You need help!" If the kid is starting to get physical he should just keep going. Keep talking. The bully will usually get embarrassed and quit early on and stop. If not he should keep repeating the speech. Have him practice the speech so he doesn't have to think about it. Have him go over and over it in his head until it's the most natural thing to do when he gets confronted. It worked for me, it worked for my kids. Sadly, all the things he has to say are probably true. You or someone needs to get to the bottom of what the kid's issues are or he may just move to another kid.

On a lighter note... I was so upset about the dead chick I forgot that one of my Doms was due! I went out and checked ...3 hatched so far!!!
wee.gif
2 more hens and 2 turkeys to hatch theirs yet.

Guess that's it.... Night All!

Cindy...so sorry about the chickie..was a cute little one.
Bullying is tough. My ds6 had problems on the bus this year from a first grade girl. The problem after that was that he learned it is ok to do this and now we are teaching him not to say sassy things or get overly physical with other kids. He thinks he is being funny with his buddies...maybe he is and I am an overly sensitive mom...I was bullied as a kid and had a hard time standing up against it.

Ready for this weekend...need to get my garden planted and all the nettle dug out...wrong order there... I think my mother in law is stopping over Friday with spare aluminum plant and day lilies so may put her to work putting some cattle panels up in my garden that a neighbor gave me for trellising tomatoes. The csa we belong to had done that and it looked awesome. Can't wait to try. But we will be visiting family for one day in Milwaukee. Hope the weather holds out. We are busy the next two weekend after that.

Ok..better try that sleep thing again...sigh
