You are right..sex link and cherry's since they are true for one generation are not really sex link or cherry any more. They are just mutt chickens.
If you bred a delaware hen to a rir roo you get sex links ..the chicks are called sex links even if they will not bred true.

red at 10 weeks is not so good..It might be a male.

They usually do not get red till pol 16 weeks.
If you are going to the picnic, bring the bird and I will trade you for a rock pullet.

Cindy: Sorry to hear about your chick!!! And the one with the funny feathers? I would call it "Mariposa" (Spanish for butterfly) as it looks just like a butterfly !!

Amyable: I have noticed a major drop in eggs the past few weeks too! Instead of 17-18 I am getting 12-13. I guess it may have some to do with the additional 2 or 3 broodys.. DYI I now have 5 or 6 "broodmares" (kinda like nightmare) hogging up all the nestboxes!! ARGH!

kristip........red ears/brown eggs..... i.e. orps, dotts, rocks,......white ears/white eggs...... i.e. leghorns, anconas, minorcras,...... My EE's all have diff. color ears......white, whitish, red with white, etc.,....but NOT solid red....disclaimer...................THIS IS JUST MY EXPERIENCE AND NOT SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE ..........

I drovd there got a marans, swedish flower hen, and the blue egg... I think shes brown leghorn/americana... cant remember for sure.
Also got her huge bator! Hubby had $ saved from his bday, and I from mothersday. Were all in!!!!!!!!!
I really want to use it! But dont need a bunch of mutt chickies... the dottes will not be old enough to breed for along time... would anyone in my area like eggs hatched for them? Im just so excited to have it lol

I am updating the original Craigslist ad as things are sold.

I have someone coming today to get more chickens and yesterday someone else put money down on one of the coops, another person came out yesterday morning and bought 13 hens, all my two year olds and most of the one year olds

The bantam cochins: splash roo and black hen are available yet, the pair of Swedish Flower Hens, 2 black part English Orpington roosters (these guys are huge!) and many of the two month old chicks. (wheaten ameraucana, swedish flower hen, coronation sussex, faverolles)
