OMG....I just finished catching up on all of the chatter!

Welcome to our newbies (returnees too).
I have Ams but they aren't laying age yet, so I offer no opinion/experience. I also cannot bring eggs as none of my chicks are of laying age.

Thanks for the PM Cuties! I've got the address written down, but I do have a question. Is everyone still attending the bash even if its raining all weekend?

I really need a vacation.

We are closer to closing our deal for the house. The underwriters came back with one request from us which we have completed. So we will see how it goes. I'm having to stay on top of the mortgage company though!!!

I can't remember all of the posts that I just skimmed thru...AGH!

Now my eyes are burning so much I need to go to bed. Glad everyone had a great holiday weekend. We took the new trailer on it's maiden voyage up to Lake Tomahawk. It's a keeper!

Hey Chad--nice to hear from you again...and I hate to tell you but that is NOT a chicken tractor...it is a moveable coop! VERY nice job! I bet your hens love it.
Yes CS--we do still have Chickenstock if it's raining...in 4 years that has never happened yet though. I predict sunny skies and nice warm temps; cooler at night so the fire feels welcome...and the antifreeze can flow freely! LOL! Enough people bring EZ-ups and awnings and there is plenty of room inside too. THere is also a nice covered picnic area to hide from the rain. (or the sun)

THose darn kids I watch are just like our first two! (or maybe it's just this farm?) I turned my back today (I was digging burdock) and the boy was naked wading in the yard puddle. I asked him to get dressed and he said his clothes got wet so he took them off. (fine) The next thing I knew his sister had her clothes off too! Sheesh! Looked like I was running a nudest colony here! I didnt think it was warm enough to be naked...I was dressed! LOL!

OK--their Mom should be here soon...I cant wait to get in bed and finish my book! I stayed up way too late last night and when Carol got here I had fallen back asleep for an hour when I only wanted to close my eyes for 15 mins! What a way to wake up! I did send her home with my little lavender ameraucana roo. I didnt have a girl for him any more...and he is such a cutie. She sent pics of them together riding in her car!

Kristip.... Well, if you aren't working, enjoy the kids and the garden and of course the chickens!

Amyb... WOW.... sure hope you worked out a better system with that dog and the coop and all! We have a lab and my birds have lost a few mouthfuls of tail feathers but he hasn't killed any.

Chad... Nice mini coop!

vivki....That must have been so cute with the chicks and the worm!

BBP.... Sorry for the mutts.... that's all I have this year too! LOL... do you realize how many people would love that Call Drake if it's throwing hens like that!? I can't think of a reason why only the males would die off.

Well, the Cochin hatched 5 but I'm not so sure of her as a mom. She's the meanest broody I've had but she doesn't seem to "get" the chick/ mother thing. She doesn't coo them and if a chick wants under she won't raise up and let them in. I found 2 of her newly hatched chicks in the pen next door with the Dom! BTW... a new chick can fit threw a 1/2"x 1" wire! The one in the loft has 4 or 5 I'll get them down today (Wed.)

Thanks everyone for all the comments!! The hens really do like the coop last night we made breakfast for dinner and had a couple extra strawberry pancakes. The chickens absolutly loved them. Its like our little garbage disposal.

good morning,, have not gone outside yet, but it looks dry, if not warm..

I might not make it to the bash.. the Blazer decided to pick this time to start acting up.. I thought it was water in the gas, .. cleared that off the list.. now it must be wires..

I have to see if Dick can take a look at it..

I hate to take time away from the GH project to mess with a car..

guinea hatch is over.. not good at all.. have only 4 out of over 20 ??? WTH ??? I will give them one more day of grace.. the ones that hatched did it strongly, so the rest of the eggs must be bad.. like I said before,, a lot of these were Marlene's eggs and she collects forever.. can't do that .. the birds can,, we can't..
