Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Ok... I'm 50 some posts behind. I'm tired. I'm beat down. I'm sick of dead things. Things are wrapping up here but count is at 16 chicks. Then this morning 2 of my 5 Aussie Dot ducklings drown themselves in a half inch of water. I'm. Just. Done. I'm going to take a nap before work.

Aw, thanks for the motivation frenchie! Hubby is the only one around her needing any motivation on the prego deal! Mi sisters keep telling me to pick a day and just hold on ;-) I don't know if I could be that vindictive!

Dozer is doing great! He gets so tired on the nights I train 4-h! Heres a pic of him after class last week. We hadn't even gotten out of the parking loy yet!

Big fam, I hope thi gs begin to look up for you soon.

Once you have a boy and a girl you already have all the supplies.... they only thing you have to get would be diapers. The first 2 are the most expensive!

I planted the beans, some beets, and some carrots this morning. I also planted the lettuces and the spinach in the greenhouse...... now all I need to do is get those potatoes planted....

Thanks for the input on the ecigs. It would be really nice if he would quit...... I get really tired of watching him salt his food to death and hiding outside to smoke....

Good afternoon!I just got back from a delightful lunch with my friend Glenda. (she doesnt have chickens) We went to a little bistro in town...really good GF sandwiches. They had some sun dried tomatoe and flax seed crackers I wanted to buy...HAHAHAHA--they wanted $13.95 for the package! Literally there were about 20 2"x2" crackers in a stack--NO THANK YOU! The girl even went to check the price because whe thought that it couldnt be right. guess they will have them for a while....(forever?)

This morning I worked at my garden job for a couple hours and am now taking a break before I go out to prepare the ground for the sweet potato slips. FINALLY they are in and I am heading to Madison tomorrow to pick them up. I have off this afternoon cause I had the kids yesterday...so I feel safe running the tiller. I dont like to use any power equipment when they are here.

Carol--that little chick (Buckeye) headed outside with his buddies to the outdoor brooder yesterday. He is still kinda little but doing very well. Thanks for saving him! All babies are doing well here...the duck that I fostered the 2 duckling to accepted them and they are still with her today. The hen with the ducklings is very angry at them cause they just dont listen like chicks do apparently! They are running all over the coop and not minding her at all...I might take them and put them all in a pen. I guess I should go out there and check them again.

Cuties--which babies did you lose? Are you talking about the ones that I saw that were inside?

Tomorrow I set another bunch of eggs. Not sure what I am putting in there ATM. THe Langshans are due next week I think. I am anxious to candle them...

Better get that tiller started before I run out of steam here...Later!

It was the 2 orps del gave us. One we brought home, it was only a couple hours old. And we had 2 eggs from her. Put them under our broody, and zeek borrowed us anbator to finish (broodies babies were due first) that was the one in the box above the box that magic liked.

Morning all - like cuties, I'm also having a hard time being at work today. Hubby is now officially retired, he was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and the small company he was lead carpenter for can't accomodate part time, so he is now a SAHM. JJ: can't call him a SAHD since we don't have kids and not sure the chickens count.

As kristip posted, there are a few of us in the area. I think it would be great to have a South/Central get together and here's a thought . . . we can invite Terri O

wink back at ya. We have a golf course across the road from us that has a nice little picnic shelter. This course doesn't treat their greens so many people don't like it, but we love it because they don't use chemicals and it isn't very busy, and we aren't very good. I can check with them to see if we could have our little "meet and greet" in there shelter. I also love the name . . . Argument Golf, it's on Argue Rd.

kristip, what do you think?? I know the summer is pretty busy for everyone, but maybe we could find an afternoon some weekend this summer. After this next weekend our summer isn't too bad, well roofing the house and 150 meaties, but hey that's mild compared to those of you with kids and their summer activites.

FrenchToast - it sucks that insurance will only pay for the cpap if someone has sleep apnia. Perhaps since yours is such a unique sitiuation due to the tons of chemo, the manufacturer will work with you on the cost of the machine.
We've been up to the Waupaca area a few times and loved it!! The next time we venture up your way - I will stop at your shop. Hubby and I love hitting the antique and thrift shops. Found a nice little book case at the Dane House (I think that's the name) years ago. We have much in common - I also plan to teach some art classes in my studio once I retire 6 more months ...
We are up for a picnic

as far as smoking goes, The e cig seems to follow the advice I give others as to how I quit cold turkey. Step 1 Stop lighting them. Step 2. Find something to do to keep your hands busy.

Anyone who quits smoking should find another hobby because you have all this time that you used to spend smoking, buying smokes, planning to not run out of smokes, finding the cheapest smokes etc.

And sometimes there are added treasures to being an ex-smoker. This past weekend we booked a hotel room through Priceline which gives you no choice of rooms. When we arrived to check in all that was available for rooms with 2 beds was a smoking room. I talked the guy at the desk" Patrick" about being an ex-smoker and having a reaction to cig smoke. He told me he was also an ex-smoker and had the same problem. After about 5 minutes of exchanging stories, he upgraded us to a 2 room suite with a pull out couch for no extra charge. Later I passed the front desk to hear the guy who works after Patrick explaining the whole "the only room we have left with 2 beds is a smoking room, and how bad do you want 2 beds?"

Patrick is my hero of the week!

Ugh- spent 40min in our dingy basement with 4 kiddos for a tornado warning. Supposedly one was spotted just west of us. Of course DH just kept on working in the tractor. Hopefully that's all for tonight...
