Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Evening All...man we really got hammered by the rain again. No hilling potatoes tomorrow like I was planning....doesn't work very well in the mud.

Thanks for sharing all the bash pics bl4. Seems like yesterday. I was gonna mention lisa had one of the power smokes, but she explained already..

Good Luck with the bobcat Doc...I assume the flock was still locked up...otherwise you woulda been less one bird. They are true hunters,,,if it was a she and has hungry babies...beware....I think she is prolly nursing yet....but when the little ones are crying for chicken...beware...brazen like no other.

I was a smoker too....quit like jj...I was a 3.5 packs a day...quit cold turkey....I remember those long drags on the butt after sex.....LOL!

Dang it rained hard today.

Stay Safe...bigz

Well its trying to rain here. I've heard thunder and seen lightening, but no rain. I might have to water in the morning.
All my chickens are doing well. Some are starting to get in their adult feathers. It looks like someone killed a chicken in the coop with all of the feathers in there. I'll have a chance this weekend to clean it all out. I've been waiting to close on the house before doing the complete cleanout because I'm sure that the insurance company is going to come out to before we start paying for home owners insurance and I'll have to gather all of the chickens up again.

Deli-I need you to come over one of these weekends to verify the sexes on these birds. I thought that the cross beaks were males and that's all, but since I haven't had these breeds of birds I like a confirmation. No hurry yet (not until they crow). Someone is making a bunch of noise in the morning, but not sure who. CC I could really use that chicken cam that you have!
Sure..Ide be delighted. Just let me know when.
I am jealous of CC's chicken cam
Well the total count for muscovys so far is 26 ducklings. Looks like I will be going to 7 mile fair Saturday morning.

G'evening everyone :)
Enjoying reading about everyone's flock/family/etc. Learning lots from you guys!
I was at my sister's today and pulled out my camera to get some pictures of the chicks/ducklings. They're such goofy little things! I love how they have such distinct personalities too.. brave, loud, shy, scaredy-cat. The wind picked up and they darted into a corner of the coop yard, all huddled together. So cute. I hope they stay so friendly with each other!
After reading up on sex link red stars and googling pictures, we probably do have 2 hens. The 'gobbler' was throwing me off, since the other chick looks different. I'm guessing chicks can just grow at different rates (like kids?). We also decided against adding any more birds right now. Just wish we did a little more research before buying these chickies.. 18-20 weeks is a long time to wait for the first egg! Mom is anxious, she's allergic to store bought eggs, but has no problems eating fresh. She wants egg salad really badly! ;)
A few pictures...

Keeping an eye on me!

They are always together :)

Was never a big bird person, but they're truely growing on me!

Run away!!

A little focus issue with this photo, but I love it :)

bahaha.. chicky is like "I want to go play!" It was starting to get really windy/sprinkle, so I was putting them to bed haha

Dinner time!

Love the stare-down they can give.

sorry for photo overload, they're just so cute!!

Not only will you have an egg a day from your chickens, you should get chicks. You have a male and a female. Very cute.
welcome to the group and thanks for sharing photos.

good eve, I just finished a New Glarus spotted cow.. Annie bought me a 6 pack for father's day.. I don't know why, I am not her father..

we were down to just one turkey,, for about a half of a day.. then one hatched so we are a 2 turkey family, now..

I had a busy morning, so I got nothing done around here.. this afternoon , I worked between the storms and got 3 trusses built.. If the weather cooperates tomorrow, I should get the last 4 finished..

gross ? when your 95 year old aunt insists on giving you a kiss, and then slips you her tongue..

I have so many eggs to set, I don't know where to start.. I have guineas from Marlene, and I don't even know what Jim P . brought for me.. then I have some guineas of my own and a turkey and I think that is all.. the hardest part is keeping everybodys' similar eggs separated in different bators..
