CSA is Community Supported Agriculture. Usually they are small local farms that pre-sell the year's produce to customers: every week you get a box/bag of fresh veggies, whatever is in season. Most have different sized shares you can buy (2 person, small family, etc.)

VickyW what is the name of the chemo that caused the nerve damage?  When I had the mets to my lung they gave me vancristine (sp) that I think is known to do the nerve damage but that was in 1974. The Adriamycin (again sp) did the heart damage.
Have you had your heart checked... the tech that did my echocariogram said that now days they monitor peoples hearts all along while they go thru chemo treatments. (I'm sure just the ones who have chemo that is known to cause damage)

I was pretty impressed with the knowledge of this young girl that did the echo. She was from Nebraska.... Her family is coming in August to visit... she is not sure what to do with them when they get here....... LOL Show them the Hodag !!!!! Shop in Eagle River.....

More like causing than caused. Thus the rub. You see I must take the drug that whose side effect is causing the neuropathy every day, that's what is keeping me alive. It's basically a form of terminal chemotherapy. Know too well about the guinea pig thing. Both drugs I've been on (the first was a real side effect nightmare) were literally months out of clinicals when I started them. The one I'm on now, Dasatinib, was so new my pcp hadn't heard of it. These new drugs are amazing, a few years ago, someone like me would not have still been alive but so far they are a control, not a cure, but they are making huge strides . When I started the first drug 5 years ago no other drugs existed. When it failed, a new 2nd generation had just been released from trials early (the one I'm on now) and just this past year or so there are at least 3 so somebody just may hit the one that cures yet!

As for the heart thing, I have literally had more echoes than I can remember in the past year. Developed both pleural and pericardial effusion (an expected eventual complication) last summer and in the process the beginning of another form of heart damage (another potential complication) was discovered but since all has been gotten under control.

Yes amyable hit it on the head. Small farms and you pay in the beginning of the year for a share of the harvest. We have tried out many different ones over the years and this is the best one we have found. Basically you are taking the risk with the farmers on their crops. We get small family, every other week and by picking up at the farm, they give you extras. Our farm is run by a lovely lady and she went above and beyond. She has about fifty small share families and fifty large share families. We get a box every over week from June through September for about $300 from an organic farm. My insurance pays me for $200 of it so pretty good deal

good eve, I have the lazies lately.. today I did manage to put that last truss up all by myself.. lots of trips up and down the ladder.. now my knee hurts.. old age sucks..

this morning, we finally got Mom into the ground.. she died March 4.. lots of complications caused the burial delay.. I almost stayed behind to make sure ..

Dora is still not back to her normal, but she is eating, and drinking, and peeing.. I know she is getting better because she is sneaking naps on the couch..

I have lots of babies to take out of the hatcher .. lots of Marlene's guineas .. I think she is going to be surprised at the number.. we took 17 more out this morning,, and it looks like about that many again..

our power went out at 7AM today.. It was out until almost noon.. temps dropped in the bators to below 80.. I am hoping that wasn't too much for too long.. the eggs that were pipped, went right ahead and hatched,..

the worst part was no shower of shave this morning..

I had a phone call from Zeke.. I missed it.. my ringer was turned off.. I will call him back on Sat..

I lost my long post about today. Vicki is a very smart, knowledgable lady. I learned so much today!

I have tons if details to share, but I'm tired and I still have Halden up. I have 3 different ailments going on in my coop, and one behavioral element that has aided to chick demise. So here's hoping that I can get them all strong and healthy from here on out!

May be bbl ---///

That is awesome! Organic veggies all season, practically for peanuts.

Fish Fry Friday To Everyone....we didn't set up the outside cooker tonight. We were afraid the rain might show up...which it didn't. We had Haddock and scallops baked in butter with fried potatoes, fresh cole slaw and dark rye bread. The fish and scallops were perfection...the Leinenkugel's is tall and cold.

My advice ghost is to set the temp at 99.3...it will run between that and 99.6....the perfect temp range for the brinsea...at lockdown take a wet wash cloth and lay it in the bottom of the bator and into the channels fill the channels completely full of water...the vent is important and must be at least 1/3 open during hatching....keeping RH during incubation should be between 40% & 50% and during hatching 65% or more....Check the 4 screws on the cradle...they should be snug.

Nice pics...thanks for sharing.

Good job frenchie....some folks shouldn't have pets.

We are going to Glendale next week too bl4....we love the snow peas in our crab salad....i'll prolly eat a couple lbs while I pick...good stuff....and the strawberries should be good....they didn't allow picking today with all the rain we had.

Man the skeets are terrible tonight. I'm being eaten alive.

First Day of Summer today....hope you had a good one!

Stay Safe...bigz
