Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Yvette I thought you couldn't get a blue from a lavender or split? I know my hen and roo were first offspring of lavenders that come from you they said. Kirstin Thompson I got them from. Now im really confused on genetics.
Sorry to hear about your chick. What is a Swedish Flower hen btw?

You shouldn't get anything but black or lavender from that crossing. If the lavenders are expressing the lavender color they have 2 copies of the lavender gene and will not produce blue on their own. Are you sure one of your splits aren't dark blue?
A Swedish Flower hen is an imported breed that apparently needs to be imported more for genetic diversity. Or the breeder I got them from needs to get some from a different line. Pretty sure Greenfire had imported 3 lines.

No im not sure just that she said they were splits of lavenders they had purchased from you. They are/were both black with irredesence(so) coloring. Im so new to all of this breeding. I do have to blame you without blaming you for my obsession with lavenders since the first time I seen yours. I want to get ahold of the man from Hudson and just buy a lavender pair so I know for sure I have a true lavender.

I'm not sure of his name just was told if I wanted nice chickens he's the guy. I have Blue Laced Reds, Blues, Silver and Copper laced. I haven't seen the Chocolates yet. I see one of the chicks is a Wyandotte cross with the Orphington due to only thing I have with rose comb in coops. I wish they'd get done hatching already so I can take a group photo. Still 5 left to hatch, 2 aren't pipped yet. Going to candle them when it gets a bit darker, technically they weren't suppose to start hatching until tomorrow.

Terri, Lisa lives up by me, so it would be a two hour trailer ride for your horses...... BUT you can ride the trails at Hartman Creek State Park! It would be GREAT to see you!I would appreciate all the riding pointers I can get! It sucks that I learned to ride so late in life...... as in I am terrified I am going to hurt myself. I think it is easier when you are younger and think you are invincible......

Made a couple of beef roasts tonight, and I am glad I did! It was chilly enough for a good roast! Cooked up the rest of the sugar snap peas and used up the leftover potatoes form the other night. Yummy! I also sat down and FINALLY watched The Avengers. Good movie! Sorry I did not see it on the big screen!

You know that cat I was telling you all about? The one that has decided to velcro himself to me since we came home from vacation? He is glued to me right now, making typing quite difficult since he is sitting right under my right elbow....... oh good, he decided to move.... but not very far I am afraid. Laying down acting as a wedge between the DH and me is apparently his roost for right now.

Tomorrow the training begins........

Good job on your run BBP! Congrats! The WI Warrior Dash is the same weekend as the Tri I am competing in, and also the same weekend as the Dirty Girl.

CS, I will be headed down your way the weekend of the 28th.... my cousin invited me to see Heart with her. It promises to be a fun trip, as long as the construction in Milwaukee is not too bad at that point. Speaking of construction, the 41 bridge in Oshkosh is just about finished. It will be 8 lanes!!!! I think it is a bit of overkill, 6 would have been good enough but apparently they think 8 is better. I will look forward to no longer having to sit my way through traffic jams to and from work.
You mean July 28th, right??? Seeing that the 28th of this month has past? How long will you be out this way?
Hi All!

Judge... I love that area! I have relatives from Hayward to Ashland!

Delish... Sorry about your little orps.

My birds have been looking for dry land too! Young son had to put a couple of boards down so I didn't get stuck in the mud by the coop!

Sclark.... congrats on the peeps!

It's not that I hate ALL tourist .... just the snobby ones that act like they own the place.... and YOU!

The new hen seems to be doing OK. Didn't eat too much yet, but dose peck a little. She likes the little roost in her cage. I'm sure she'll be fine once she adjusts.
Pepper took the little ones to roost in the big coop.... so cute!

Night All!
Cindlady-is your comment about tourists really directed at me? I hope that I'm missing some sort of undetected sarcasm here! If your comment is really directed at me you have (1) completely misunderstood this whole situation, missed my following comments, etc; (2) are directing hatred toward an individual that you do not know; (3) and are claiming that I am snobby which is far from the truth! I truly hope this has been a huge misunderstanding and can be moved beyond.

I spent the morning weeding the garden then DH and I cut down one of 2 trees that were in front of the house. They were cedar trees and had grown to where they were blocking sunlight from the house and had killed all green things under them. We have 2/3 of the second tree remaining to cut down another day. We have to get a rope to tie to the tree branch that when cut will want to fall on the house. At one point during our cutting of the first tree our neighbors next to us and 2 of them across the street were standing outside watching us. Have they never seen someone cutting down a tree? We cut all of the branches off of the trunks as we are hoping to use the trunks for fence posts and the branches for an arbor.
Egg layer has laid another egg and this time it was actually in the nest box!

Chicken enchiladas with elote and apple pie for dessert tonight. TO- your homemade chips..what are they made from?

Deli-I put the deep litter from the compost pile on the tomatoes that were wilting, the squash, and the okra. I sure hope that it has aged enough and isn't too hot.

Better get to bed as I have to get up for work tomorrow. Night all!

CS... not Cind's style for it to be taken that way. I think she was merely stating what most of us have noticed which was wishing for the kinder gentler tourist...

BTW... where's CC... I sent her a funny PM this morning (funny to me anyway) and she hasn't been on to get it yet and give me cr@p back. it's so not fun to have to WAIT to get the sh!t back!!!

Cs,
You have so much bedding and very little poo I doubt it could ever be considered *hot*. It should help your wilting to some extent and cut down on the *help* you received from your DH. You can also try some LABS if that does not work.

Today was almost cold..The chicks were complaining on and off all day.

Yup, July.

I hope you saved some of the scraps from your cedar tree to burn. It is so cool to burn cedar and watch the flames change colors....

Did 4 miles on the bike tonight..... I think I could have done 6 but I want to go slowly and ease myself into this. Should get up tomorrow and run...... we will see.

I have to give a big shout out to the DH, our washing machine was having issues, and once again he saved the day and fixed it!

I dread replacing it since the new ones are SO freakin expensive! I know this one is not going to last forever, it is around 18 years old now so a replacement is in our future.

So since I biked my 4 miles, I deserve ice cream.

Night!

good eve, we sat outside until a few minutes ago, then the skittoes took over and chased us inside..

DD#1 came out and we got half the purlins up.. then Bro Dave showed up and we took a break and never got back to the roof.. Oh well, there is always tomorrow..

I got the new tiny tiller to run,, but only if I poured gas directlyinto the carb.. so we took the gas tank off and found that the fuel line was plugged and the rock filter inside the tank was plugged..
So tomorrow, I will go purchase a new filter and fuel line..

other than that, nothing new here..

Sandi, I really don't want to know my role in one of your weird dreams, thank you very much...

this is a picture of the "super moon" last week.. no real big deal,, just that the moon is nearest to the earth once in awhile..
