The one I had I kept with me as much as possible during the day, but I was 12 at the time too so it was easier. When she had her baby he just stayed with her and she did the protecting. I had them in a BIG area with a chicken wire fence so they had plenty of room to roam. We also had a kiddie pool for them to swim in, that was our evening entertainment; watch the geese bathe and try not to get soaked in the process!

Usually the problems that arise around here are due to my animals free ranging. I'm bound to lose one once in a while. Especially when there are around 100 birds running around. And I'm prepared to have one get eaten once in a while. I would rather have them living happy lives being normal chickens and ducks rather than locked in a nasty, dirty pen void of any grass and plants because they have killed them all. But the geese were different. They were only 3 weeks old and were locked up tight most of the time. Every afternoon I would take them down to the river and they would swim with the kids and follow me around in the kayak. They were even allowed in the house once in a while to hang out.

That is truly awful BBP. I like George my gosling a lot. But it really sounds like you imprinted on those baby geese as well. It makes me sad to hear how idyllic your outings were with them and now they're missing. I'm really sad about your loss.

I went to Menard's tonight and picked up my little dump box garden wagon and my "Hula Hoe" AKA stirrup hoe AKA action hoe. (They all sound like they hang around street corners in the night.) Going to give it a twirl in the garden tomorrow. The hubs looked it over and pooh-poohed it. We shall see! Happy Un-Birthday to me!

Hmmmmm, back to this again. Oh well. It was such a beautiful day, so I weeded my gardens all day long.

At least hubs said it looked good. He's lucky.......... So needless to say, I am pooped! Going to bed now. Sweet dreams, all!
