Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Unka I'm getting tired of hearing about your strawberry obsession. I don't have any strawberries. I want strawberries. I cannot take on one more chore or responsibility as simple as picking strawberries without needing to be shipped to the nuthouse. (Ok I should probably be there already, but someone is going to notice for SURE soon!) So stop bragging about your sweet red juicy dripping berries of sweetness!!! Or your fluffy cake covered with said delightful red berries of deliciousness covered in the white fluff of love. Enough already!!!

Or else drive a bunch of hours and bring me some. :-D

I am sure your kids would love to pick strawberries...I had kids out in the patch at a young age. It was a family tradition I loved since I told them to eat breakfast in the patch, and they thought it was a grand idea. Make sure you bring a change of clothing, wet wipes and a can of off. Stains are hard to get off of seats.

Afternoon To Everyone..yep, we picked a bunch of strawberries too. It's fun to take the tractor ride out to the patch....TO....this is what happens to one of those berries you can smell....

I'm in trouble...told suzie that the grill would be started at 6....ooops...alittle late...shrimp and tenderloins on the grill...she has a potato pockat that is prolly gonna be done early....we all know you can keep er warm, eh!

Smells good to him...

TERRIO - I totally agree with you and more. I read that article last night and it really $&#=@ me off! It made all small flock keepers sound like irresponsible foodie hippy morons! :barnie
UNKA- I knew about the chicken rescuers, there's a big one in Minnesota.

BIG FAN - STRAWBERRIES!!! :lau hubby brought me home a box of fresh berries yesterday from Merries. Enough to tide us over till tomorrow when they open the Sparkle fields to picking. Those are the ones I love for jams and syrups.

Where is Frenchy?

CS, I have taken storm spotter training classes for years, and I have taken a meteorology course. On top of that my next door neighbor is a storm spotter for the county, complete with mobile ham radio and flashing lights for his vehicle. We were just fine, watching the radar and keeping tabs of where the storm was headed. We got a little bit wet but stayed clear of the main part of the cell and came out the other side in a perfect spot to look for rotation. I say the perfect spot because the fire trucks and police were there too! All in all a beautiful storm!
BTW if you ever want to have company going to TOC I will GLADLY join you!

BBP seriously get the pheromone diffusers I was telling you about. They really do work.

Back to work tomorrow. Maybe I will actually get up early and go for a bike ride.....
That really sounds like an interesting way to spend the day! When I lived in Kansas I didn't have a storm cellar in the house I was renting so the safest thing to do was get out in the car and watch for them across farm fields. Since there are not many bodies of water or hills to affect the thermals, they pretty much move in a straight line out there and you can get out of their way easily. Here there are too many trees and hills/dales to see them from afar so I just head for the basement!

Today was a bummer! The deer got over the fence w/barbed wire AND the deer fencing (the GUARANTEED deer fencing) and did some damage in the garden again last night. He/she/they must have been in a panic to get out and just tore the fencing to pieces along two sides of the garden. To be sure the little critters didn't get in somehow and help themselves to a snack, I sprayed most of the plants (tomatoes, peppers, what's left of the cabbage, cauliflower, beans, peas, etc) with a mix of some organic essential oils. Dang it, I didn't think the deer would get in and they nibbled on the corn - NOT sprayed!
