I have to agree with bigz. Majestic is the very best way to describe light brahma. The two I had were amazing. I miss them dearly. Part of the risk of free ranging. But I still feel they had the very best life. One never went broody. One was very broody. So im not much help there. We got 2 chicks this spring to try to replace them. I knew it was a bad idea right away. They first tried to give us one with a missing eye. I should have said no thanks to any. But wanted them so much. And have been looking without finding. They were not very healthy. One had crooked feet. The other, you could just tell was weak. They both died :'(
I love the breed. They are the most docile with the children. It was so amazing to see little b lug around those ginormous birds.

Well all chicks are out in coop finally. Let all the group my Cochin Bantam roo was babysitting out to free range yesterday and they made it thru the night. They are so much happier as a I. Looks like the majority of eggs are fertile so if all goes as plans will have about 60 chicks hatching starting in a week. Most of which im just incubating for a friend. I can say im very glad I purchased a Brinsea as if the Farm Innovator was mine it couldn't land in the garbage fast enough. No matter what I can't seem to regulate the humidity so am running it dry until lockdown.
This weekend is Blue Hills Fest here in Bruce and my boys being scouts have to be there Fri, sat, and sun. Had to have them there at 6:30am to clean the park and the firework debris from the ball diamond. We finished at 10am just in time for today's activities to start. Again tomorrow cleaning the park. Gets frustrating as my boys and I are always there for the work but most of the other scouts are not and only show up for the fun activities. I picked them up at 4pm instead of 9pm and told them they had to get others to share responsibilities as my boys are getting burnt out. They had already done Friday 2-11 pm and could barely get them up this am to go clean. Thankful its over tomorrow. Its hard at times to stay positive.
Hens are finally laying like crazy and getting about 30 eggs a day. It was kinda nice when I was getting 4 a day. Might have to start selling eggs or making tons of egg recipes. Now have 3 broody hens; 1 Buff Orp. Bantam and 2 of my Silkie/Cochin x Speckled Sussex Ladies. Will have to see how it goes.
Put my Lavender Orp. In coop w the Speckled Sussex hens in hopes he'll find his manhood again. He is starting to stand more proud as the days go. I was told it could take 8 months or more, time will tell.
