A lot of people are hosing down their chicken pens because of the heat, sometimes several times a day. I would think that might help cocci get a good hold in the area. Just a thought. I put up a big shade tent for the young chickens that were getting to hot in the tractor and gave them fans and they seem pretty darn happy now. I don't know who waters/mists their coops here, I just got advice to do that somewhere numerous times somewhere else and thought it might be a bad idea...
We had a super wet spring that seemed to last unusually long, so I think that was a contributer.

Thanks guys...just wanted to make sure I am not over looking something in general.
Hope ya get it cleared up and heather...I think we need baby Hershey pics!

(PS)By the speed of the garbage trucks flying by I am guessing that our trash did not get put out AGAIN!
And Frenchie--you gotta stop picking on me! I agree though...how in the world did BigFam get on that topic with the Doc?
I can just imagine Heather at the doc's office... " So Doc, What do ya think of this?" "Well Heather, IT makes me THINK that you must be over 30, and must be a few years past 30 as you had enough there to braid it into corn rows with a red, white, or blue bead at the end of each row."

I know I am in for it after this, but I can't help myself and she didn't answer the question.

It so happens it was at my pelvic exam last year where my Dr said "you are obviously over 30 and could braid corn rows down here"...

Obviously JJ has been up my butt longer than I knew and he just let it be known with the exact verbage from my physical last year...

Now other than my au natural status....

I have young roosters (or some chicken) pooping in my nesting boxes. Every flipping day.

I have hens giving me NO EGGS. For weeks.

I think I have to close off my nesting boxes at night. Then I think I have to let all the birds out to free range except my laying hens. I think they have to go on coop arrest again. I think my corn field has a lot of my breakfast eggs in it and I'm not happy about it! I'm sweating my like a fricken construction worker going out there several times a day watering, feeding, giving treats, checking on Mommas and babies, filling and emptying pools. All for no eggs since the cocci incident. Sick of it. I'll be d@mned if I'm buying some crap eggs from the store!

Any ideas on how to deal with these 2 seperate issues???
