Bigz... CC is going to get a big head being told how RIGHT she is all the time. She's going to be even more unbearable to live with! ;)

Deli... My oldest used bricks we had laying around and put together a little fire pit for me. It's fired up right now. It's right outside the run, with the concrete as the back wall of it. Hopefully the chickens will figure out what it is for. I had been burning and then carrying ash over and dumping it where they were last seen flopping around. I'll be thrilled to see them use the fire pit full of wood ash!

I got stung on the neck today, by a bee of some sort. It hurt! I haven't been stung for years. I think I just now was able to get the stinger out.

I just had to try that smiley .. just to see if I can.. now I can do at least one thing that Sandi cannot...

has anyone checked ? did heII freeze over ?

I have a chick with the yolk sac erupted .. he should be dead, but he just won't die..

I would not attempt to lance that lump near the eye.. In the first place you do not know what it is..
If you suspect a bee sting, treat it as such.. just remember, anything you put on it will more than likely end up in the eye.. I hope you know that baking soda stings like heII in the eye..

the proper way to lance an abscess or water blister is by poking it at the base of the lump, next to the good tissue.. do not poke it in the middle like bursting a balloon.

I have two people interested in my old hens.. One seems really serious.. emailed me a couple of times and even called and talked with Annie..

I spose I should go lock up the birds..

BTW, my co-worker says Andie's mints make really good s'mores and so do the Cookies and Cream Hershey bars.

Love the garden Judge! Mine is all over the place so pictures would be useless.

Not much else to say here... kickboxing tomorrow night. Getting ready to head South! I am so excited!!!!!! I NEED this break!

So, I didn't tell you guys, DH and I spent a good 30 minutes yesterday chasing Mr. Gibs (AKA-the escapee). He dug an escape route and was out eating food on the other side of the backyard fence. I tried to get him in with food, no luck. So DH & I tried to double team, no luck. While DH went to get a fishing net, I caught Mr. Gibs. He was so freaked out that he rested when I got him back in the coop...plus he is ****** at me for catching him. He wouldn't come anywhere near me for all yesterday. We've got a lot of work to do to rabbit proof the coop (and apparently varment proof), plus I think he'd really like a "rabbit-run" option like the chickens get. Yep, he's jealous!

Vicki-it is SOOOOO quiet here, so the decision to move those "screaming" birds to you, saved the rest of the flock!

Hahahaha...the rabbit must have thought that I took those 2 birds to slaughter and thought he'd be next and escaped!

Once again I'm back among the living! At least I think I am! Got me a little case of Lyme's on top of all the respiratory stuff - what a fun summer.

I missed almost 600 posts - yow! has it been THAT long?!?! I saw some really nice veggies pics and I'm sooo jealous. I won't be posting any garden pictures anytime soon - there are more weeds than anything else and those danged deer just keep crashing through the deer fence. I've been just too much under the weather to care about the garden much but I am getting a lot of zucchini, summer squash and just starting to get acorn squash. My tomatoes are looking good and I should have a bumper crop. Corn, um, not so much. Only 4 bean plants survived and the peas are looking iffy. Not a total loss but better than I thought it would be with no rain to speak of and weeds running rampant.

The chickaroos have settled into the backyard routine and we've plugged up all the escape hatches. Not many eggs, though. Either the heat has been getting to them, they've found an awfully good hiding place, or the neighbors are getting them to lay the eggs along the fence for them (jk). My neighbors and some of my customers enjoy spoiling them with treats.

I promise to keep up now - I've missed you all!!

I didn't get pictures after hauling in the sand, since it was getting dark.. But it's looking great!
Hubby comes home tomorrow. I am excited to spend a couple nights in my own home!
Fleas are still bad here, still finding live ones on the dogs. Bought a yard spray and flea shampoo tonight... Between vacuuming fifty times and shoveling sand, I will certainly be sore in the morning!

How long should I keep the babies crated away from the bigger kids? They've been in the coop/yard for three days now inside a dog cage. I'm nervous to let them free :)
