Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Got back from the Youth Conference yesterday and slept from 5 till morning (6). I was hoping that the hen that got stung would be better. Nope, still looks the same. Should I do the Baking Soda thing?? I don't know. I also have a hen that either only eats when I am not around or doesn't eat at all, she only seems to like water. What's up with that? Anyway nice to be back, Colton

good morning,

I hope the rest of this post goes better,, I had 4 mistakes just typing good morning,,

I cuppa'd up and went right outside.. I got all the mower blades off, sharpened, and back on.. then I fixed the choke/throttle cable on the mower,, have the battery charger on it right now, then all I have to do is put the mower deck back on.. that is the hard part..

next I will be taking the fuel line off of Ollie and see why the flow is so low..

have two different batches of guinea eggs hatching today..

finally got an email from the lady about the Sebs.. it seems that suddenly her goose does not have a twisted wing and she no longer is interested in mine.. I hope she changes her mind.. then I can tell her to go to heII ..

TerriO, Annie said, no to more geese.. twelve is more than she wants around here..

the morning started out cool, but it is plenty warm now.. I think I can switch back to shorter pants.. No Heather, not that kind of pants.. trousers is what am talking about..

Colton, were dying to haer your dads decision! Welcome home.
I would be wondering if the hen has so.ething other then a bee sting. It has benn quite a few days. Does she have any other symptoms at this time?
The one you never see eating, is her crop full? Does she act normal otherwise?

Jim, sounds like another busy day for you!! What are you going to do when you get everything fixed, and cleaned up? ;-)

I was going to ask what the final answer is but I fell asleep and he was gone by the time I got up. Tonight is the night.

The hen is acting great. She eats all the time and is still laying. The swelling has pretty much stayed the same. She seems to have more bubbles in her eye, though. I am going to try baking soda and water mix. That is what my mom uses on all of our bee stings. I am almost positive it is a wasp sting.

The other hen's crop is not full. She doesn't lay eggs, she hasn't for the last 2 months. Well she laid two eggs two weeks ago but now she is slower and not interested in the food.

Cuties, I wonder what it would feel like to have everything all caught up ?? We are cleaning up outside and around all the buildings.. some day we will tackle cleaning the inside of the garage and the basement ..

Heather, Ollie IS about that age when a good reaming might do him some good..

Colton,, I would not do the baking soda that close to the eye.. It might get into the eye,, that alone might not do any harm,, but it would sting, for sure .. If it were me, I would not mess with the lump.. If you open it up, you are asking for infection, which would be worse.. just keep a watch on it.. (No Heather, not a wrist watch ) ..

I will keep my fingers crossed for the answer! I agree with making a banking soda sauve . And for the other hen, she might just not be feeling too well. Maybe give her some special things. Like scrambled eggs. Crush the shells back into the mix. Also if you have plain yogurt on hand, it give the immune system a little extra boost. Sdd some minced garlic. My chickies go gaga for that one!! Do you have chick electrolytes left from when you had all the babies? It would be good to add that to her water. If not, Gatorade has the same effect. Or unpasteurized apple cider vinegar in the water. Hope she starts to feel better!!

Colton, if you are that positive that it is a bee sting,  see if the stinger is still stuck in that bump,, If you can remove it, the swelling should go down..

Good call jim!!

You will have to keep the bators all around to have something to keep busy when the work and repairs are completed!!
