Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

The taming of the stray cat is going quite well. I worked on him most of the day yesterday and he finally let me touch him. Then I called the kids over to pet him too. He's still pretty skiddish, but is really starting to warm up to us. I took a bunch of cat food samples from work today so the kids can bring him out one of those every day. So, I think we'll keep working on him for the next week or so, then he can go to the vet and get neutered and vaccinated. I wish the dog would quit chasing him though. He may end up running him off.

Pretty kitty!

The chicken gods look down on me!!

I don't know what I did wrong.... another pullet down, well limping. Not taking the risk of letting her walk around like last time, separated. That's just my luck..

Arrrrgh! When it rains, it pours!

I hate dis. She won't stop running around!! In the area I put aside for her off from the other chickens, she managed to escape. I came back to her all over the place. It is not broken. It is either a dislocated hip again, or a sprain. I'm hoping it is just a sprain. What are the signs of a sprain compared to any thing else??

Well, she is managing to forage in the last hours of daylight. The limp is only slight, at first glance, you wouldn't notice it. It took me 5 minutes of wondering if she was limping. She lays down a lot. Sometimes her toes don't fully extend and she kind of trips. Just trying to identify the problem. what do you guys think?

Anyway on a good note, dad should be home in a half an hour...

So pretty and you are an angel for trying to give him a better life (and a less " productive" one). Tamed my first kitten when I was about 8. More heart than sense at thAt age. This kitty was truly feral and nearly shredded me before I finally tamed her!

Thanks Vicki. My husband is building a playhouse for my daughter and we may put a cat door in it so he can have somewhere to go in the winter. And it will be a safe place to hide from the dog, rather than a tree.
