thanks a bunch.. it has been driving me nuts!! I really appreciate the help.

Sorry kj, I have no experience with OEs or Amer.s

Vicki, was it you who asked about scratch vs cracked corn? I personally prefer scratch. Corn is just like candy to chickens. Scratch is too, but I find they don't go thru it quite as quickly. Just remember it is only a treat and should be given in moderation. I only give my birds enough that they can consume in 10 minutes or less. Otherwise it is just too many calories to not enough nutrition, and fat birds do not lay as productively as slim ones, but that is just IMHO.

Colton, I hope you got your chick issue resolved with Meyer. Just be warned that when they send your replacements, they will also include "packing peanuts", aka roosters, to fill up the minimum amount of chicks that they ship. If you do not want the roos, you would be better off placing another order for more pullets to meet the minimum chick amount. That or get a refund. HTH

momgille, I like to worm once a year in Jan. or Feb. when their production is low. I first worm with Wazine to kill roundworms, then a few weeks later, worm with valzaban to kill off any remaining worms. Valzaban kills ALL worms, but might also block the birds intestines if the worm load is too large, so I do it in 2 separate doses. Worming can be hard on a chicken, so I supplement with probiotics (yogurt, etc.) and higher protein for a couple days.

For the absolute best advice, ask dawg53 on BYC. He is the chicken health god.

If you ordered all pullets the first time, they will give you all pullets the second time. Minimum order is 3, so your good. I just got credit for my one dead chick. They would shop me a new one, but with the meaties, I would have had to buy 2 more for minimum shipment.
