I have next week off! Joe is going to Madison Friday to work. He is staying there and not driving back and forth, so, I have the week to myself. I am tempering myself not to celebrate!

Jim, as a child I probably ate chicken soup. But not as an adult. And when I buy broth I get vegetable. No battery hens for me. I could totally understand canning meat when there weren't freezers to store it in. But I have a freezer and I will use that.

Speaking from someone who just had the power go out for 10+ hours....... those canned goods sound awfully nice to me now vs a freezer full of meat on the verge of defrosting....... and we are talking a side of beef and a whole pig here.

I need to quit my job and become a farmer....... difficult to do living on a postage stamp in the middle of the gated community with an elected neighborhood association!

Dan... I agree about canned chicken, or any canned meat. If you you do it right it's not only tasty but great fro quick meals. The trick is a good broth and pack it tight.

Evening everyone !!

SClark...... Hopefully you are fast asleep now and won't be reading this till morning and you are home. If not, couldn't anyone from home have brought you your meds tonight?
I've spent nights in hospitals who want you to bring your own meds and then I've spent nights at hospitals that require you to get the meds from their pharmacy. I'm not sure which is best. How can they monitor you correctly when you are self medicating... On the other hand I've seen where they order the RX's and if their particular pharmacy doesn't have your med.... you are SOL !!! They did that to my Mom once. Or should I say they decided to take her off of a med while she was there. Like I said, I think we are alive in spite of the doctors sometimes. You really do have to take care of yourself these days.
Either way.....Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.... I know you told us but what did you have done again.... ?

I don't go in for my heart Catherization until Monday Morning.... in Wausau at St Claires..... That's why I asked JIM where he went and if he thinks I'll come out of the place vertical !!! LOL Or do you to to Aspirus Jim ?

Heather hear cath and uterine cath are two separate things girl !!! LOL Believe it or not I"ve only had one uterine cath in my life..... wasn't as bad as I thought. Can't really even remember it.
With the heart cath they go up through the artery in your groin and with a camera look at the arteries and veins going to your heart and look for blockages etc.
Think they knock you out with that drug versed (sp)
I think if they find a blockage they can put in a stent right then and there. Can't see why the would do a uterine cath !!!! Even if you do stay over night !!! Heather is just triyng to scare me !!! LOL (insert smiley with tongue sticking out.... for some reasons my smileys aren't working !!! )

DH ET is at his sleep study tonight... I'm sure fast asleep even before they plugged him in !!! LOL For once he will be in bed before 1opm.... he had to be there at 7:30pm... reminds me,... Have an appointment on Friday morning to bring the van in for a front end alignment and from there I'm going to get some used tires put on.... provided I like the looks of them. ET isn't working so then the truck goes in for a look at the front end, that I know is going to need work. I can't find any used tires for the truck so I'm thinking about looking into some cheaper tires (four of them) to get us buy for a while then I'll keep the two rear tires that are in good shape and keep my eyes peeled for some of the same and pick them up when I can. Kinda sorta planning ahead that we'll need them sooner or later. Used Truck tires are hard to come by and the ones we have are a newer tire so doubtful I will find two to match them.

Colton, do you happen to have a catalog from the place you got the chicks? Sometimes they have pictures of the young chicks..... I don't think they are all sex links... do they even have that many different kinds of sexlinks ? Will be interesting to find out what they are, that's for sure. Cute chicks.

Watching a movie on THIS TV .... called Single White Female..... fell asleep the first two times I was watching it. It's on again now so I might just catch the middle of the movie !!!

Hi all--still alive...what a day, and night!
So, I am glad that you got my berry pics. I will have to send them to my puter so those of you that did not can see them too! I just got the last of them into the freezer before I came on to catch up....SO--------------I am driving from Jim's after picking most of the afternoon and having a very nice meal at their table; the gear sift on my manual transmission car seemed "odd." I just felt not as strong as it usally did. I stopped for gas--no problem. Then I went up the ramp at Hwy 21 (Coloma/Necedah) As I got to the top of the ramp the downshift didnt feel right at all and the car would not go into 3rd. I coasted over to the side and climbed the fence to the station. After finding out that my phone did not work (apparently ATT doesnt work in that area[even though you have 5 bars]), I found a nice woman than let me use
her phone

called DH (thank GOd he answered a foreign #) and told him the problem. He contacted the guy at the Coloma Motel and the man cam to pick me up! WHat a guy! THe sheriff's department needed to know all the facts about me to let me leave the car there for 12 hours...even threatening that if it wasnt off the hwy enough they would tow it (it was) Had a nice sleep at the motel and DH came in the morning and we got the car loaded on the trailer. Actually it was still in 2nd so I suggested just driving it up there...one point for me!
GOt home about 1 and went to work after feeding/watering everything here that was starving! The Dad picked up W at 8:30, DH came home and fixed my car, I ate some supper and got the berries frozen...I am exhausted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still happily working on my Iowa Blues, enjoying just starting the next generation from my newest flock.

Forgive the watermarking. I've had some liberal usage of my photos, such as a hatchery using my photo of my Iowa Blue cock bird to advertise their Iowa Blues. It's actually kind of funny, since the bird was a terrible representative of the breed and he's no longer with us, but amazing none-the-less that they would take the photo, slap their watermark on it, and put it on their commercial website. Even emailed them requesting they take it down with no response.

I also LOVE the last pic! It looks like he has the wind blowing through his wattles! I cant belive that people would steal pics without asking to use them!

Well surgery went well and im in my room. I think I shouldn't of did this bit too late now. I can't even eat a bite of ice cream or drink water the pain is so intense. Asked the nurse if they can give me lidocain or something topical to ease the pain.

Ooo, good idea on the canned chicken, maybe that's a good place for some of these smallish culls to go. Bet they'd make nice canned chicken/veggie/stock.

I need to find me a good cheat sheet gardening for dummies or something to give me the short list of timing for various garden fare. I used to plant/harvest my mom's huge garden growing up, but I wasn't exactly paying attention as a kid. She used to can a lot. I want to start next year, get the boys out there to help, start to fill my pantry with jars.

I will be happy to help you learn how Connie. You can get a whole chicken in a quart jar! I am a good gardener and a good canner too. I would love to help you get started!

Usually for any type of surgery that you are put under they catheterize you. You dont know it cause they do it after you are asleep and it is removed before you awaken. Just one of "those things" I guess...
