Hi all--I thought I replied last night...I dont see the post. Maybe I forgot to send it since I was falling asleep in the chair! I certainly did not get enough sleep for sure.
I have a bunch of roos here and they all get their own "harem" it seems. The higher up they are the more girls they can keep. It is kind of fun to watch as I open different pens at different times of the year.
BL4 you have the most interesting job! Much of it sounds pretty fun...but not the boring parts. So where do they get the cats? Euthanized from shelters? When I worked at our county shelter the vet tech that was responsible for that used to curl them up so cute like they were sleeping, and then put them in the "cat freezer." I got a pretty big shock the first time I went out to get more dogfood and opened that freezer to see what was in it!
Having a little snack of potato chips dipped in sour cream, humus and and peach mango salsa...not bad! I might not eat dinner!
Guess I better head out to close up...it seems to be getting darker sooner...unfortunately.
Have a good night! TerriO
Is this a pic of pickled peppers? I would like your recipe please! I seem to have a great abundance this year and we cant eat them fast enough!Good morning everyone.
So sorry to hear of the losses
Sclark- wow beautiful pictures!
You guys are all so funny about the picture I posted. Jim- I would be delighted to go out on the town with you. Too bad we live so far apart![]()
I bet he would be delighted too...your DH not so much!
Yesterday I became a great aunt. I feel so old. Maybe because all my great aunts seemed like they were always old. We now have five generations in our family, which I think is pretty cool!
The chickens and goats and pony are doing great. Our one young rooster that was spared from the freezer is doing well too. I thought he would act up once it was just him and Colt, but Colt is showing him how to stay in line. It is funny though- it seems like Steve (thats what DS9 named the young roo) is recruiting some of the girls to follow him. Colt gets so mad!
Anyhow- did a lot of pickling yesterday. More today if I get the ambition. My dad went to pick apples, so I suppose applesauce will be soon.
Hope you all have a great day! More storms though maybe?

I have read a pea sized amount too...what I am always worried about is that maybe the Ivermectin isnt mixed well in the tube...I assume you are using horse wormer? The liquid is easier IMHO; at least it is homogenous!on the autopsy report it said to use oxy-tet as this parasite is very rare in chickens so that explains why after giving it to them the day I dropped off Jamal in Barron within 3 days nearly all symptoms were gone. I plan on worming this afternoon with Ivermectin( anyone have the dose? I thought it was a pea size per adult bird, but what about the younger ones). We plan in moving some birds today so figured it would be a good time to do it. Tipsy is going back free range and Willy(pb speckled Sussex is getting 4 ss ladies. Siless(lav orp ) is going in coop with BO and black split. Gold and silver wyondottes and blrw are getting moved to Blues(blrw) pen. So confusing but after daughter reminded me it sounded good. When Pretty Boy(slw) gets old enough, id say another month orhens so GLW and slw will go with him. I have to build yet another coop. I already have 8 as it is.
