.

Two games against Amery in football last night. Lost the first one, C team. I only played half the game as Q and third and fourth corner safety. Then, JV game I had to play the whole game as safety. Yes me, by far the smallest guy out there. But we did crush. Sry Angiebubs. Well you won one game.

Well hope everything goes well with everyone's sick chooks.

Yeah for their baby turkeys!!!
Whoever said party planning...would love to do it! I enjoy cooking and organizing...it is brining it all together that is tough. But for the kid party, I hired two sixth graders to help me ($10 each) and that worked great. 50 cupcakes made it to school in one piece today so all is good.

Question for my experts...after a bird molts, do eggs start small and get big again or move straight to big.... Otherwise my black copper maran is laying and eggs are not super dark and similar to my well summer... Medium to dark rather than true chocolate... Bummer...was looking forward to those cho plate colored eggs. But it was a small one like a pullet egg might be.

Just spoke with the vet-OMG they are so helpful. Great prices and they put me right through to the actual vet-he just spent 30 mins on the phone with me discussing bird diseases, working, cocci, etc. Anyhow, it sounds like we passed to the two main scares..MG and MS the others are more viral in nature and they can get past this and even potentially build up an immunity.

He hasnt yet completed the autopsy on Latte due to frozen state, but said he is guessing he will find out it was round worms based on the fact of how skinny she was yet still finding food in her crop. His recommendation is after this respiratory virus is past, to treat for roundworms and cocci....as they are both present in almost any flock and the goal is to keep them without normal healthy range. So it appears I dont have to worry about ever adding birds and having them die from something my birds have! However, for obvious reasons, a closed flock is best for my flocks safety.

I feel like i just dodged a bullet!!!

Yaaaaaay!!

There be baby turkeys here!:celebrate :weee :yesss:
11 of them! Guess the boys made contact sometime!
Now to try to keep them alive! :/

Congrats!!!!

Some breeds might. I don't know all the breeds. I do know Marans eggs start light and get darker..than this time of year they are lighter than early in the year. My pullet Marans are chocolate color, just not dark chocolate.

So, I think my black chick is the maran that Vicki (Delisha) gave me, but it doesn't have a white dot on the head.
congrats..you might have a girl. remember it is half Orp.

Yes...been watching the pink comb turning red and if not laying is close. Was an April fools hatch...

I'm lurking too, when I can find the time. Not much of that these days, but I am still somewhat upright & breathing, the last I checked. I'm playing catch up since I'm 140 posts behind. Geez, people!

As I mentioned to Jim earlier today, a storm came through here over the weekend, blowing a ton of fruit off my trees & snapping off some branches with a lot of immature pears on it.

So I have been trying to do something with all of that.

I can't fall back on freezing it because our freezer took a crap a few weeks ago. So I'm trying to can & dehydrate it all. Plus my brother gave me a bunch of his tomatoes to can. At least I got that done today. And my SIL brought over 4 bags of zucchini so I was busy grating that up & baking bread. But it never ends. And then there is the chicken drama, trying to integrate chicks into the flock, etc. but we won't get into that now.............. Lol!

So sorry we didn't show up by you, Terri.

We were under the mistaken impression, at the last minute, that the family was coming over here on Monday to cook out, so we were working on the yard like crazy, only to be told (at 4pm on Sunday) that my sis was having us over by her place.

Hope everyone & their critters are doing good. Sweet dreams, all! Oh, and DrH & Zeke both say

Hi all just checking in. Not much exciting stuff here. The kids started school this week including my baby who started for year old kindergarten. I cried for about an hour after after he left.
Lots of canning to be done this weekend. Tomatoes and applesauce.
