Bigz, if you have someone who makes a good summer sausage, we will be more than happy to pay you for some if you have extras. Everything you bring to the bash is awesome.

What, no comment from the mouth? Did she finally find someone elses corner to darken?

Happy birthday Jim and Cindy! How exciting!

Ok need my canning experts...so had grapes and boiled them whole down and mashed them and strained the rest out. Used the freezer jam receipe according to the pectin website...think it is ball brand. Canned and put some in fridge and some in freezer. Was starting to thicken when it went in last night. Looked at the ones in fridge today and still kinda fluid....what do you suggest?
If you followed the directions for pectin exactly I have never heard of it to fail! If you strained them you should have followed the recipe for JELLY. JAM includes all the solids except for seeds. The recipe also says that it may take a few days to set up (at least in the canning version) The recipes (as far as I know) are specific for canning and freezing/for jam and for jelly. You can always recook or use it for pancake syrup!

Nighties! TerriO

Kristi, grape jelly/jam can be made without adding pectin at all since the fruit is high in pectin. If you do not see the jam set within a week or so, reheat all of it up to a good boil for about five minutes stiring the whole time. Then put back into your jars or containers and see what happens.

Just back from the preschool open house tonight. Tomorrow my 3 year old goes to his first day of preschool. Sniff, where did my babies go? Thomas, big boy, starts Friday in 4K. Both boys are excited, they love their preschool.

Chickies all tucked in, did well through the heat. Moved the chick bator chicks outside and they're doing well in the broody/brooder house.

Hellish few weeks at work, weird...typically back to school time is a lull at work, but I've been double booked for weeks, trying to keep my head above water. Records are beginning to pile up, worked til midnight last night to try to get yesterday's records done, still only made it through 2/3. Sigh. Darn paperwork. Takes longer to record what you did than to actually do it. :p
