Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good Morning, boy it's a foggy one out there again take care on the roads - stay safe!!

Cuties: your are right it is quite a trip - and so much fun, even if I do over think things at times.

momgille: I don't have Americanas, but my Delawares and Rhode Island Reds had really slowed down and the dropped feathers have picked up. So I'm laying it on the molt and as Terri said the shortened daylight. I think we will be hooking up their light soon. I know it would be better for my girls to give them the winter off, but I'm having trouble getting enough eggs from my seven mature birds to service my customer list. I hope my little pullets start to lay by the end of October

Good luck with the flooring, how nice that will be when it's done. We are camping next weekend, I'll think of you when roasting weenies over the fire

TerriO: sorry to hear about the nanny job, I believe things happen for a reason. Who knows they may have ended up being the parents from he11 - you may have dodged a bullet. We also planted hubbard squash this year. I've never had it but it is supposed to be nice and sweet. There are only two, but they will make up several freezer bags.

JJ: Those apples are HUGE. Are they a sweet eating apple? We are going to be planting several apple trees this spring so I will be researching them this winter.

Irish: Thanks - it has been a lot of work but rewarding . . . well for me and the birds since hubby is doing most of the work

Cindlady: It has been a lot of moving, I'm looking forward to next year when/if one my girls goes broody. We will have a coop ready to go and will just need to wait on delivery of fertilized eggs. We want some Black Jersey Giants - so I have been scanning a thread Unkadan referenced. I found info from last October that referenced four breeders from Washington, Indiana, Michigan, or Ohio. Well we have time, maybe I'll find someone closer. Good luck to your son - of course your are a bit anxious about his new duties, your a good Mom.

Ahh one of the programmers just got in, time to fire up the project and see what breaks today

Cs, I have 3 roos from that clutch. You would know for sure by now if you had a roo. Mine are stealing girls, and crowing. We have some roos to send to the sheep farm. And spring will be interesting!!

Del, I do feed them garlic :)

Vicki, can I get it at fleet farm?

Bbl4, what is de? Can I get it at fleet farm?
And how did the osha tour go?

Not sure on the valbazen. I ordered mine from first state vet supply because they were the only ones that sell it in smaller bottles for small flocks (still have enough to share and use for several years - it has a good shelf life) Ann's the stuff is expensive. I know FF has fendbendazole. It's just in the horse and cattle section of course.
DE - FF is where I get mine. One bag usually lasts me almost a year.

I meant nutradrench. Sorry
What is de, a med? Cause I dont want to go that route again...
I am thinking because I found 0 worms, I am finished with that, and will stick with the concoction.
And find a vet in my area that will do a fecal test once a year.

I get my nutridrench at tractor supply. They are a LOT cheaper than anyone else.
Ok DE is actually made up of the exoskeleton of tiny prehistoric critters. You get it in a large bag and it is actually a fine grey powder. Just be sure you get the FOOD GRADE. If you do a bit of research you'll be surprised how many of our processed human foods have it in them. It won't work to get rid of a heavy infestation, but it is believed it can stop it from happening in the first place. Check out the website theholistichorse.com t o find out all about it. Keep an open mind tho. None of the claims have been scientifically proven but DE is still a great source of minerals and definitely works in the coop, run etc to control "critters".

BTW - I don't like using chemicals either. I just happened to have them on hand because of the rescued girls from last year. Since all my other girls got the "all clear" from this first round, I'm going back to doing what I was with them. I have no choice with the aussies tho. I have got to break the round worm cycle or Pepper won't survive.

I also think your plan is a good one. I only dosed my other girls in case they had picked up the worms from the aussies.

Is anyone out there looking for a new in the box 60" smart TV? It's a Samsung.

My wife won it through her college. Best Buy delivered it. We don't have a wall big enough to put it on.

MSRP is 1999.00. I am posting it on CL for 1200.00 soon, unless I can sell it to someone I know, instead of everybody and their sister wanting to come here and see the sealed box.

Cheesehead price 1000.00

And yes we did just did buy a new TV. Irony knows no bounds.
