Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I stopped in a Fleet last night on the way home from the in-laws and picked up some much needed training supplies. A 30' lead, dried liver treats, Bitter Apple, and a dog bed. Brought everything home and soaked the dog bed with BA. (He will destroy his bed I have been told). Tossed his bed in the kennel last night along with the deer antler, put him to bed and crossed my fingers. Success! We still have a bed AND I did not have to listen to him shift around all night long!

He did start his howling nonsense around 6 after the DH left for work. I came out, told him no, opened his kennel and had him sit. He started to give me attitude at that point but I just waited, gave him a correction ever time he growled, and patted his bed telling him to lay down. He gave in pretty fast (like under a minute), laid down I told him he was a good dog, shut the door and went back to bed. No more howling.

We had a 2 mile walk this morning before breakfast (I still need to eat), he is sleeping under my chair right now. He did get a folded up piece of paper this morning and tried to claim it, but honestly all I did was go over to him and tell him to drop it. He did growl but spit it out and backed off.

I did find out that the reason why the rescues would have nothing to do with him was because he bit a child last summer. The circumstances surrounding the event though, have me believe that he was not trying to harm, he was trying to nip but ended up breaking skin. Of course any biting is not acceptable, but given the lack of direction this guy had I can see how it would happen. It is difficult to explain without typing a book...... I would rather investigate the cause of the event and then make judgement instead of just writing off an animal for a mistake. A lot of you know this about me already.

I find it frustrating that people expect animals to behave better than people do.

Ok off soap box! Time for a shower and time to eat!

bl4-sounds that a great doggy day!

So this morning, I may have heard crowing (not really sure as one of my hens makes a racket sometimes), but in the event that my BLW is a roo, would anyone want him? I don't have a problem butchering him, but he is gorgeous (in my opinion) and well mannered/calm.

He is gorgeous..and a he..sorry he started crowing..

I am in denial, OK. I don't want "him" to be a "he" (and for those of you out there with smart @ss comments...I'm not neutering him or changing his gender)

I can bring him along on the chicken train, if someone wants him.

This is not my Red, but it looks really similar. Only my guy doesn't have waddles as long as the ones in this picture. Also, Red has more saddle feathers & they are more red/orange than this birds. His tail looks the same however.

Hi all back again for a quick hello!!

Delish: I didnt know you were a foster parent? Do you still do foster care? I was a foster adoptive parent (in Cali) for kids with EBD. I wish i could convince chickenship to do it again now.

BBP: Hi stranger! I feel like i havent talked to you in months!! We really need to catch up asap!!

Also...what is our final menu for TO's party? I need to know what to bring. Deli suggested I bring rolls/buns for BBQ (these need to be GF right?)
I made regular buns..well they are raising now. The BBQ is almost done. It is made with my homemade salsa with smoked peppers. I wanted to make sure no gluten was used. The buns I made are regular bread. TO needs GF buns. I looked today at the bakery and they did not have GF anything.
Chips maybe? a desert? Icecream? I need to call you tonight..I need a favor.

I do not have kids now. I had my first foster child when I was really young...I am not sure if I should anymore. Joe and my parenting styles are too different for challenging kids. I do not have the patience I used to have, or the energy. One of the last ones started a fire and I think it was too scary for me. The poor kids in the system need more than I have to give. I am too old. I liked the baby's. They don't let you take just baby's much anymore. Laura was my last baby. I still miss her..I had her for three years. She is almost 11 now.
