Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

He is doing very well!! He was very healthy. So free range with rae's flock. Red can hold his own.
I think he likes all the wandering. In the am, I make sure he gets a little extra chow.
Did they catch the guy? Dont they have gun seeki g dogs?

Good news Kendra..one step closer.

TO ..this morning I went out and the male I got from you was frozen solid. Not sure what happened..He looked fine the night before. Maybe all of them girls was a bit much for him. Maybe something was wrong and that is why I never seen him bred or try to bred the girls.I want to do an autopsy. Since he is frozen solid he is safe for now. Maybe they did not like him and killed him..poor fella. Now I need another one.

Having a delish root stew for supper...I am on my second big bowl-DH is on his third! ALl grown right here on the farm except for the celery! LOL--YUM!

Chores are done! Have a good night! TerriO

TerrO, the rooster I got from you is also dead ...he'll be in ma belly soon!

(Hatched from TerriOs eggs)

I was sad because he was a cute guy, but he tried to flog me the other week and he crowed incessantly. He was going to be a mean roo for sure and I can't have that with little kids around. He is much quiter resting in the fridge. Hopefully he makes great chicken enchiladas. The little hen is doing ok.

Lisa

Ah Lisa, you're funny!

Sorry about your roo, Del.

Mmmm, Terri, your soup sounds yummy! With this crap weather, I made soup too. Chicken veggie noodle. Really hit the spot!

We got lucky & finished winterizing the coop just in time (Sunday) before the cold hit. Yesterday the heat lamps went on because I still have some miserable hens with bare backs. I also have a lame hen & a momma with 2 chicks (who are getting pretty big) in a seperate section, so I gave them a lamp over the lower roost (for the lame one). The chicks promptly abandoned mom and have been snuggling up with aunt Molly the past 2 evenings, nice and toasty. But my "teenager" chickens were afraid of the lamp. So much for "with age comes wisdom". Stupid chickens.

I also had to plug in the heaters for the waterers. Had to chip the ice out of them. And so it begins...........

Stay warm, all, and sweet dreams!

Hi All!

Sorry about the rooster... I don't even know if the one out in the tractor is alive. It was dark by the time I got out there. The "coop" part is covered well and he has straw. Guess I'll see tomorrow. I didn't get his water plugged in, looks like those d@mn "rafter chickens" pulled the outlet wire loose. At least the part that's hanging is dead and they can't reach what's live.... neither can I

Have to get a taller person to rewire it.

Got the quill pens done and shipped out, hope they make it by Fri.

Neil's therapist said he did real good today, he made it up and down the 1 step 11 times! How we take for grant it, just doing a step.

Well, nothing new..... Night All!
