Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I j I just took this picture of the 4 baby parakeets for Annie .. they are still too young to fly.. she listed them on Craig's List for $15.oo each.. with a discount if they take more than one.. I just thought you might want to see them,, My favorite is the dark blue one.. as always, click on the picture for a better view .. ..........jiminwisc........
O jim, that is the sweetest picture!! Sydney has started saving her egg $ to buy 2 parakeets and a cage. I will not show her the pic. She will be sad because she does not have enough saved. I showed her anyway.she likes the blue the best also. Thanks for the heads up on the chips!

Hey all...long day and my internet is off and on and not sure why. Think I am almost done with my Christmas shopping ... Just need to find a deal on a weight bench on Craigslist for my hubby and something for my father in law and I am done, I try to be done by thanksgiving so I don't have to panic since I usually end up hosting all holidays here.
Mel posted a yummy receipe I will be making.mi remember my grandma making beef and barley soup but my mother didn't like barley so never made it and that receip slipped away.
We wrestling season is back and Andrew is so excited. I think this year I will have to get him some wrestling shoes...not cheap and have to hunt up wide sizes, but I am sure they are out there somewhere. He just loves it. And it gets him excercise all winter which with his ADHD, he needs that outlet!

Off to get kiddos in bed. Have a good night

RBerry-What a neat looking house!!
X2..very cute

good early afternoon,,

I just got back from the golden feed mill.. bought a hundred pounds of finely ground oats and corn to "sweeten" the meat on these barock hens that we are going to butcher.. No, the lady didn't come and get them,, and her phone must be disconnected , too, cause she didn't call..

We caught 10 BO pullets and one BO rooster and put them into the turkey pen with the doomed barock hens.. there was a pullet egg in there today..

Maybe those cops should borrow my bro's metal detector.. last summer I lost a piece of metal off of my cultivator.. we searched for it .. we did find it plowed about 6 inches under the dirt.. but before we found that piece, we found old steel pieces of beer cans, rusty nails and bolts and even metal bottle caps.. some of these items were a good 12 inches under the surface.. so , 3 ounces of gun barrel should be a snap to find right on the surface..
My guess is that guy ditched the gun where he could go back later and retrieve it.. or else he gave it to someone before he ran..

That is a lot of windows to replace.. the whole front of my house is windows also.. I added a sun room onto the whole 40 ft length of the house.. I used to sit out there a lot, but lately Annie has taken it over with her plants and birds.. I hardly ever go out there anymore..

not a good view of the sun porch in the background,,

this is the big breeding pen I built last winter/spring .. same size as the green house..

Cind, you will prolly ache more in the next few days as you did right after the fall.. I think a fall like that would do me in..

Cuties, there is someone in Weston selling wood chips for $30.oo for 3 to 4 cu yard loads.. he is on Wausau Craig's List.. I called him, but he has not called me back..

also watch for Asplundh tree trimmers in your area .. they are always looking for nearby places to dump their chips.. so far I have been getting those for FREE ..

Rberry, Burt Reynolds was before Chester.. he was the half breed Indian blacksmith..

and Clint Eastwood was Rowdy on Rawhide..

..........jiminwisc...........
Great idea on the tree trimmer call!!

good Packer Sunday morning,

BarlRac,, saw your add still on C L >.

JJ how did your bale garden turn out ?

Don't those cops have metal detectors, or gun sniffing dogs ? I spose they don't want to work in the rain, maybe ,, eh?

Sandi, pay your internet bill and get back here..

Heather, at least PM me.. or call .. Don't tell DH,

I am building another chicken plucker to sell.. I cleaned out my shop so I can actually see the floor again..

I located a hundred bales of oat straw, so I will be set for the winter in that department.. got a good price, too,, $2.oo/bale..

I built a greenhouse,, I still have to enclose the sides with plastic panels.. but I used it for my tomatoes and peppers and broccoli ,,
in the garden , I had the best carrot and beet crop ever.. and the beans were a great success, too..

...

it is 12 feet wide by 25 feet long..

as always, click on the picture for a better view ..

Made a good trade for 8 young guineas, I got two quarts of ho made maple syrup,, and 2 twelve inch long sticks of ho made summer sausage .. Soooo, now I am going to go make some ho made pancakes ..

........jiminwisc.......
The bale garden did ok. Next year we are going to do it again, but just with bush beans and squash. The broccoli did better in the ground and I am giving up on tomatos all together.

good eve..

JJ, did you try potatoes in the bales ? I was going to, but time got the better of me.. I barely got the garden in at all.. that is the main reason I was so surprised at how well it turned out ..

I scraped tons of top dirt off the surrounding area, (my new garden) and dumped it into the greenhouse.. you can imagine how much dirt I dumped, 12 ft wide x 25 feet long and a good 6 inches deep,,

then I dragged the garden, picked rocks, dragged the garden, picked rocks and finally got it almost rock free..(I thought) when I went through with the Troybilt tiller, I hit rocks and kept that tiller just about airborne .. I never expected anything to grow.. bur I stretched 250 feet of hose down there and watered every time it did not rain for 3 days.. my corn was late..I gave up on half of the patch and watered only the other half.. over half of the beets came up sporatically down the row.. I planted one 6 ft long pre-embedded strip of carrots,, they all grew.. the green beans never came up,, the yellow beans more than made up for it..

In the greenhouse, I dug individual holes for each tomato and pepper plant with a post hole digger,, I filled each hole with compost and a plant.. UnkaDan told me to plant the peppers deep, as if I were planting tomatoes.. I did.. and I had the best crop of thick bell peppers that I have ever seen.. the pepper walls were a minimum of 3/8 inch thick and the peppers were numerous and huge..

I still want to try the potatoes in a bale next year..just for the haloibit .

Oh yeah,, the tomatoes did OK,, but it was not a good year for them.. UnkaDan showed me how to "stake" them up by hanging strings from above.. I had plants over 4 ft tall without any leaves touching the ground..

I expect next year to be 100% better,, as I am not building a green house again..

this is a long post just for those of you who are missing FT (Sandi) ...

.....jiminwiscposingassandi........

Sandi has been busy on facebook educating everyone on horses.....

Thanks Kristi! I wish I could give you measurements but I just guesstimate most of the time when making stuff, except when I am baking of course.

Jim, I am not showing my kids those birds, they will want them, especially the blue ones....

Keeping the fingers crossed the rescue will be able to take the dog by the weekend...... he is turning out to be a really nice dog..... and I must resist!!!!!!!!!!
