Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Wow! Slow day here!!

Not much to report on my end. All is well. Class was fun last night :) hubby had chores when I got home :) that was awesome! Were having a lasy evening here.
I will be purchasing echo and brownie a blaze orange vest. We had a very young hunter walking our yard line this afternoon. No back tag. It makes me so nervous having people mi do not know are responsible hunting so close to us...

kind of small...might not get too much!

I wish I could have made it..next time for sure..

I bought a bag of bad feed and I have sick birds..I never fermented it and just gave it dry with out looking..
today I found black mold in the bag ...I poisoned my poor birds..I am trying the molasses to see if that helps but I think I waited too long..

busy day again like normal, DH left early this am and just walked in the door- trying to get a flooring project done before Thanksgiving- of course having to remove snow yesterday didn't help

well based on what we can tell DD's older doe must have kindled as she is very witchy and DS(8) saw the fur in the nest box moving. Will have to wait about 5-6 days before we attempt to check. She is one I will not put my head into her crate!! Guess we will see.

this year, I don't have to do anything to get ready for Thanksgiving

Oh no! How horrible, Vicki. I am so sorry to hear that. I hope they will make a full recovery for you.
I know I don't have to tell you, but try the extra vitamins in the water & some yogurt to go along with the molasses. Fingers crossed!

Hey everyone just found the site looking for nesting information on my Golden nd Lady Amherst Pheasants. From a smaller town in Southeastern WI in Racine County. We have had a pen or two and many Amherst and Goldens for at least 5+ years nowand love it. Looking to expand to. Actually lost a male Amherst a week or two ago and will be looking around and on the site for a new one as well if anyone has suggestions but other than that just wanted to introduce my self and fill ya in on my birds/situation (looking for male Amherst, and nesting info for pheasants).

Del--my mill gives the number of the batch on the receipt for just an instance like that. All you have to do is take the remainder in and they have insurance and stuff that will pay for any losses that you may have. (hopefully you wont have any...but that should be in place from any mill) Good luck! What type of mold is black in feed? Do you have a name for it? I have never seen any mold in my mash...one time I has some suspicious pellets in my corn that freaked me out...but it was just corn gluten pellets. I was pretty glad cause I had been feeding it to the waterfowl!

Welcome Jhw! I am pretty sure there is only one other pheasant person on here...Hens&Roos. At least they DID have them...not sure if they still do. Your bird in the pic looks beautiful! Do you have them in a big flight like on the farms? I bet Cind would sure like some of those feathers! (we send feathers to her 'cause she makes stuff that she sells to Renaissance fairs for extra $$) Which reminds me...I have another batch ready to send!

Well, I guess I will stop prattling on...Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone! TerriO

Deli.... if you have some wood charcoal (not brickets) grind some up and give it to your birds, maybe mix it with the feed. If some seem to be getting sick, try to get some down them ASAP!
