A friend posted a pic from her phone this morning...it was -13 a few miles west of me...maybe I DID see a correct -15 on that thermometer after all!

my car started at -10 and dropped to -12 on the way to the road to take the garbage out for collection.

good early afternoon,, I went to the restaurant for coffee this AM. Ran into DD#2.. she bought me breakfast..

went to Menard's, bought two windshield wipers.. one broke before I even got it on.. took it right back in and exchanged it..

got home to find Tommy out of the coop, and a half dozen chickens sitting on the yard cart sunning themselves..the door blew open a little ways.. I gave them all water, and chased the chickens back into the coop...

our Christmas will be a quiet one.. DD#2 is pulling a 24 hr shift at the county nursing home.. starting at 10PM tonight.. Annie goes back in at Noon on Christmas day..

It sure is nice to have the geese out of the guinea pen.. It is soooo much dryer in there now..

I am going to run out of layer crumbles by tomorrow.. I will give the layers corn and oats.. that will be their Christmas present ..

has anyone noticed the days getting longer ? me neither ..

Merry Christmas everyone! Off to get a VERY special Christmas present for my middle kiddo! I will post pictures later!!!!

Tonight we are going to break tradition and have Indian food for dinner! I am going to attempt making naan bread and butter chicken. I'll let you know how it goes....

Sometime tonight I have to wrap everything I have purchased........ It is going to be another looooooong evening.......

Merry Christmas Eve,

I just put a dutch oven full of baby back pork ribs into the oven ,, covered with my ho-made blend of BBQ sauce.. In 1 hr 15 minutes, it should be all ready to eat..

I pre-boiled them for over an hour , so they should be nice and tender.. (I hope)

I never did pork before,, but this is how I do venison..

8 eggs so far today.. there were 10, but two of them were cracked..

Tommy had enough of his freedom ,, I guess he figured freedom was too cold.. He went back into the coop..

3 eggs today, woo hoo! One of them is a pullet egg. I guess one of the babies is laying now. I got the chickens out for a bit while DH & I changed the water and refilled the feeder, grass and rabbit food(s).

Keep warm everyone and I hope our "missing, but not forgotten" friends return soon.

Yum butter chicken and naan, I'm jealous BL4.

Sorry to all of the sickies! Feel better.

DH is making turkey jerky, Dad (G.Pa) made sausage and kraut (I had salad) for dinner.

Tomorrow we are going to my best friends parents for an early dinner.

Gifts are all wrapped and under the tree, but we'll wait until Sunday to open them (when the kiddos return).

CS, it was yummy! Not quite the same flavor you get in the restaurants, but close enough!

We have new additions to the family, I will have to post pics tomorrow...... my youngest DD wanted a kitten for Christmas and just three days ago I told her it was not going to happen.... I could not find one. Then out of the blue I saw an ad for kitties and so here we are. I picked up a blue point Himalayan and a black Manx, both girls. Right now, we are keeping them separated from our other cats until they see the vet. We are alternating 'cat times' spent with the family in the main living area, which is annoying Grover. He has no idea why he has to be locked away from the rest of us and makes it known..... loudmouth. I figure if I do the introduction this way, gradually, the other two will be accustomed to the scent of the new kitties when they finally meet. The unfortunate part is my two older cats do not have their front claws, and these two stinkers do.

Another late night here, I have to wait until everyone is in bed before the presents appear.

Tomorrow brunch consisting of bacon, sausage links, and ebelskiver; the Christmas dinner at my sisters house.
