Good Morning! Jim can understand you being invited to so many party's. Showing up in your new frilly jammies and your tutu. Bet you were almost in tears having to take them off to get dressed for chores. Not quite kini weather yet CC and doesn't look like it'll be next week either. BRRR! Got 3,2,3 then 1 eggs in the last few days, big improvement. Need to go get some more straw very soon. Have running to do today with the arrival of the monthly stipends. Maybe straw tomorrow. Breeder pens are not laying much. Too coold. But consistently getting a decent amount from the layers

You never want to put your addy in a Craig's List ad.. I don't even put my phone number either.. too many weird people read those ads.. and scammers .. I am not really too comfortable with a response, when the responder ends up with my email addy ..

The Blazer has been sitting for about 5 days,, I know I should have started it up once or twice, but that is why I have the charger on it right now.. In the mean time I watered and fed everything.. only to find out that the plug came out and it wasn't charging.. so here I am, waiting some more..

DrH, wrong,,, I NEVER take off my tutu.. but I'll admit, it is getting a bit chilly out side.. one of these days , if it gets any colder, I might have to change into something warmer..

I am thinking I should move the laundry room from the basement up to the tiny bedroom .. Annie is not getting any younger, and besides,, one of these days she is going to demand that I carry the baskets down and up .. then the move will take place post haste ..

Welcome newbies and to returnees!!!!

CC- the only time I'd put a 'kini on in this weather, is for the polar plunge (which I did not do this year). I plunged in 2011 and 2012. I chickened out this year as I was not plunging in negative temps in solidly, frozen lake water.

Congrats to all of the hatches. Keep those babies warm (and the mommas too).

bl4- how are the kitties? Are their bellies getting smaller?

CC-you spoil your chickens....heat lamps...hah

Deli- thanks for the tapmytrees info, I had already found that site (and its a good one) and thanks for the eggnog recipe. Since we can't get the ingredients (due to the snow) we can't even make the eggnog

I can't remember ever not having eggnog OR for that matter, being able to buy it. I can't believe that no one has it. How much snow have you received there? Is Joe able to go to work? How is the no smoking plan coming along??????? How is Casha?

We took the kiddos ice skating and sledding yesterday. We were gonna go to Chinatown, but not with lake effect snow expected today. Maybe we'll go later in the week. With them home this whole week (and DH & I off as well) we are having to get creative to keep everyone out of each others hair. We have been playing a lot of games.

Well, we dodged the snow bullet this time around up here! I'm pretty tired of shoveling white stuff already.

We're just about out of holiday leftovers so I guess I'll have to cook again soon. I have a hankering for zucchini bread so the shredded zucchini is in the fridge to thaw. Except for gathering eggs and checking on the chickaroos, I'm going to snuggle in for the duration!

Hey guess what... I am alive.. sort of!

Its been cold, snowy, and cold. I have four chicks that were hatched out by KristiP's broody hens, all are marans and I am guessing that two are roos...
We have Hurley's turkey Maisie and 3 guineas as well as our marans and Kristi's silkies.
Oh and a rabbit, he likes being a "free" bunny, hanging with the chickens.

I will need to find one of the roo chicks a home at least by spring if not sooner.
All are "Proper" marans, meaning they all have leg feathers.
So the one we want to find a home for is a cuckoo maran with great coloring and great feathering!

I am still sporadic with the internet, but have made a New Year's resolution to be on here more than you can stand me!

Joe is not working..ugh..I think he is done for a while
The no smoking is going OK. not as good as I like...I am waiting for e cigs to arrive to help. I am still smoking..but down to a just over a 1/2 pack.
Casha is improving daily. She is still gimpy, but is starting to use her leg more and more. She makes it up and down stairs pretty good now and I do not cart her at all.
We got a good foot of snow yesterday and it is still dropping. Joe spent over an hour removing it off the end of the driveway. It was well over his head. He left to pick up feed for me since I was too chicken to drive in the snow yesterday. It should stop sometime this afternoon.

So as of now, we have 13 chicks out with 14,15 & 16 working on getting out. The ones out are very loud...probably see where we are this afternoon and maybe take them out of the incubator.(they are driving the cocker a little nuts

)

I never give out my addy either. I meet people off cl at the gas station. I feel a little weird about inviting them to my home. You never know the weirdos out there!
Cs, sounds like you are keepi g those kiddos nice n busy. If mine get too bored/ argumentative there is always chores that need to be done!
Del, glad casha is feeling well. No smooking will be easier when you get your e-cig. Just make sure to slowly decrease the nicotine level. I made the mistake of going too fast. And started up smoking again. I now do a little of both. Last time I will mention it. I know, just about the time you're not thinking of it someone brings it up ;-)
