Jim or Delisha- we are going to lock down the bator on Tuesday, any advice? The humidity has been better after I taped the seams, I still have to add water once a day, but a lot better than it was.
I need at least 60% then! right? Putting a sponge in works well? Is there a max humidity we ned to stay under? Thanks!

Sorry I do not do it that way at all so Jim will have to help you. i would have no idea what steps would be next with that type of incubation...I am sure what ever Jim tells you to do will be the right way with this method.

My first small batch of BLRW are due tomorrow. They are all internally pipped so I just moved them into the hatcher..I sure would love to wake up to the lil buggers all out of the eggs.

If you are doing chicken eggs, you do not have to go up to 60% .. anything above 40% will do..
you did not say what your humidity is..

to raise the % just put the plugs back into the vent holes.. or cover the holes with duct tape..

it is difficult to tell you what to do without knowing the specifics..

i have had good luck by running 40% through incubation and not even changing a thing at hatching.
chicken eggs are the easiest to hatch..

I can't wait to start getting some duck eggs from my female duck hatched out alot last year had a really great hatch rate also most of the batches were 99% hatch rate the larger the amount of eggs the more eggs i lost but small hatches like say 4-5 eggs i would get 100 % hatching. and I finally hatched a goose last year so my geese are starting to lay already so soon all hatch some geese also. If anyone lives near west bend and around the area i sell the ones i hatch out.

Yes, chicken eggs. We are keeping humidity right around 50% right now. I'm sure I am over thinking this, but my 5 year old will be sad if I mess this up.

. 3 weeks is a LONG time for a 5 year old!
Will put the plug back in when we lock down. Thanks for your help!

I also want to let people know I am going to be selling my heritage breed turkeys that i got this spring with some bronze turkeys that we had for thanksgiving and i butchered 2 but i have 3 of the heritage left that are so friendly and nice that I dont really want to butcher them. 2 hens and a tom all different breeds the hens are royal palm and blue slate and tom is a bourbon red. I wanted to keep them for breeding but my parents will really hate me keeping more birds. plus i like geese and ducks better. I am also willing to meet someone or they can come pick them up if you are interested please pm me.
