What another nice day, besides the ice rain we got this morning and made our entire driveway a skating rink! Yet the chickens and ducks seem to enjoy it, they were almost running me over this morning when I opened up the coop to let them out! Lol. Unfortunately my SO went ahead on Wednesday to somehow chop the ice in the kiddie pool and WOOSH, went thru the sides with the hammer. Luckily we got another, bigger sized kiddie pool that we set up instead for the duckies to splash in (at least on Wednesday, since it froze again since then) which I will have to de-ice this weekend so that they can enjoy the SPRING weather!!!

Until then there is lots of time to spend on feeding and spoiling all our critters, taking care of an extremely swollen cheeked SO that just got 3 teeth pulled this morning, bringing in more firewood, then sitting down just to get up... walk to the incubator... take a look... walk back... sit down for a few... walk back to the incubator... take another look... and try to find something else distracting to do since this is only day 3 of our Ancona duck eggs, so a far cry (maybe not so far for others, but for us with VERY little patience it seems like YEARS) from even knowing if the eggs are fertile... then waiting for the development... and the lockdown... to finally listen anxiously for the peeps from the eggs... just to have another nerve wracking time to keep the hands OFF those hopefully hatching duck babies to figure out their coloring and patterns and... and... and... having cuties!!!!

Although I really wish I did have some money to get some chicken eggs too since our 4 seem to get lonely hanging out with the ducks...lol.
So back to the cooking cheesy ham and potato soup and trying to endure everything with that horrible P word...

We are so close, maybe when I start getting more eggs I can get some to you. I have BO, Marans, Lav Orp, Speckled Sussex, Americauna, BLRW, BO Bantam, Cochin bantams and other assorted.

That would be great! And did I see somewhere that u got leghorns too? It's not that far and I could always drop by while on a shopping trip too. Plus, I would finally get to meet someone in person from BYC!

Long day! Hanging out with my cousin now. It was really nice to see CS and the intern. What an amazing facility Carthage will have when it is finished!!!

Hi all--wow Beckyschicks...a blast from the past! How is it going?
Yes a get together here tomorrow...maybe at noon or 1 and going into the afternoon/early evening too? I guess it depends on how many times Joe calls Deli? (LOL) I am hoping the vet will be here and I can send Syd out with him and my DD to "do" the horses. She can get a bit of an education and Cuties can get a little break! The house is open to whomever wants to come...just come to see all of us and not the house OK? (unless you are a builder and can do some work while you are here...or a cleaning lady with a day off!)

I have been getting goose eggs! I finally picked one up today that was not frozen. I am having it for breakfast tomorrow--soft-boiled. I am totally hooked on that since last year when I sold so many for Easter. (I hope they call again!) They are not setting yet, nor do I want them to...I have to gather some eggs up for people! Plus, I think it is too early. Who was saying somebody was taping treed already? THat has to be a little way off yet...what say you H&R? (BTW--I have some greyish English Angora fur for your DD to add)

All of a sudden I am really tired...I think I will hit the hay. Brent--we had Swai tonight too. I poached it in some "refrigerator soup" that I had going in the crockpot...it was really good!

The puppies look happy in their new home. And I had to snigger at the puppies vs dad mental age comment.

Jealous you guys get to go to TOs. First I have to drive into Madison to take son #4 to gymnastics, get home and take a quick nap, before going back into Madison to work.

I'm also feeling sorry for myself because I stayed up until 11:30, was woken up at 12:20 by #4 playing with his new Lego hero guy thing. Had to get up and bust him . Come back to bed only to wake up at 4:00 and be stuck awake. Grrrrrrreat!

Son #4 Harrison was all excited to put that toy together because we had the extended family party for him last night. His birthday is on Monday and he'll be 8. Then he gets his immediately family celebration that day and gets to have friends over next Friday. This is the last year he's getting the big family party (thank goodness!).

Well that poop head is up again and it's. 5:45 so I guess I'm going to go kill him now. At least I'll save money on presents...

Heather, those times are what memories are made of.. 20 years from now you will wake up and wonder what woke you.. at least now, you know..

None of my geese are laying, that I know of..

Yesterday the snow slid off of the leanto roof.. that is the roof that dumps all of it's snow in the narrow walkway between the leanto and the chicken coop.. I didn't find out about it until I went to lock up the chicken coop.. NO way was I going to try climbing that mountain of snow.. I hope there were no birds standing there when it came down.. they are crushed for sure..

this afternoon we are going to a benefit "party ?" for DD#1's boyfriend.. he is dying of lung cancer.
he told the Dr that he was going to beat it.. and the Dr replied,."Let us get this straight,, I DID tell you that you are going to die, didn't I ? " just between me, you and the fence post, he is going to die..

I made cowboy beans for the pot-luck.. and I am taking a pint of ho-made (by me) grape jelly for the auction..

I hope all your chickens are ok and none of the snow got them.

About the doctors remark.. I think if I had cancer I would prefer that the doctor tell me " I hope you can, eat well, stay rested and we'll see where that will take you"... or something like that.. doesn't the doctor know that he knows that this cancer will probably kill him, you don't need to be playing the doctors words over and over in your head. Better to have a ray of hope than none at all.
