Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Lol. NPIP/Nazis?! When they are selling sick birds to unknowing people and the chicks all die or, in some cases, their existing flock is killed by these carrier birds, someone needs to speak up. Some people just don't know any better. These "hatcheries" shouldn't be claiming to be disease free when they are not. And they shouldn't be making money on birds that they know full well are going to die. I had a lady pick up lavender orp chicks on her way to buy from these ladies. I told her that if she mixed those birds and mine died, I wasn't replacing them. She didn't go there that day. I can't wait to go there mid-summer and take pictures of the conditions. Then I will post them all over Facebook.
I am not going to argue with you.. I agree about them selling sick birds.. but NPIP farms can also do that,, I am not NPIP, If it came down to forcing me into it,, I would get rid of all of my birds in a heartbeat..

but like I said, the NPIP organization does rely on snitches.. you cannot deny that, since you are thinking of being one.. a snitch is not a bad thing,, you are going to do what you feel is right.. and I say, go for it..

I am old enough to remember what the Nazis were like.. I have heard younger people say, Oh, the Nazis were not that bad.. Yes they were ..

just be sure you have all your facts in hand.. as good as your intentions are, you could be counter sued ..

just saying..

Let me know when you're planning on going! Would really like to go there too and see their "conditions" for myself. Plus, there should be more possibility to snap pics at the Ladysmith Poultry Swap on 10 May, which I plan to go to. We shall see, cuz I will definitely go and post those pics on FB also and maybe even send those to Margie(?). We shall see... maybe we can do something useful against people that have a "farm" selling sick animals in hopes of spreading the pain...

And yes, what is RBA???

are you going to have pekin ducklings soon ?

we got our first goose egg today..

I was just informed that a guinea is sitting in a nest,, kinda soon for guineas, I think ..

Have you gotten a guinea egg yet? Mine are running around the yard, a few acting like they want to find a place to lay ( or it may be a male "protecting" a female).. just that spring behavior. Out of my 11 guineas I think I only have 2 hens. A little lopsided this year.

Congrats on your 1st goose egg of the year!!

RBA is Rare Breed Auction. You know, where people will pay $600 fot a pair of call ducks. And there are silver laced orps bid up to $2700. They sure have a scam running there. In order to get "verified" so that you can bid, you have to make a $3 Paypal payment. Times that by the number of users, and someone is making out real good.
I didn't win my auction. I bid $15 on a jubilee orpinton cockerel. It was worth a try ;)

Wow that is just crazy.... it's funny how everyone thinks their birds are "rare" or "extremely rare". Ok, I'm sure there are some, but some are just not.

Sitting at the Milwaukee airport to get DD13. Her flight should be here in an hour.
I had to move my fertile eggs because my broody doesn't want to brood where I want her to brood. Ugh
It's a warm day here, sap is running too. DH is boiling about 8.5 gallons and cleaning out the beer cooler today.
Otherwise, all is good here. Except that I've had a migraine the past 2 days.

Jim, we moved the nest and the broody duckies. In the process we candled the eggs and they were either duds or stopped developing. So unless someone specifically asked me to hatch ducklings, I won't have any Pekin per se. Although I could separate all the Pekins and have them have a go at it. Right now with all the feed stores starting up with their chick sales I don't see a purpose in it though.
