Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Proving I do have poultry.....

400

And they finally produced an egg. They must be delayed due to their ages. :)

Evening All... I always promote a closed flock. It's the best thing you can do for your flock. I strayed from my principles to purchase some brahmas form one of the best APA hall of fame breeders because he was only going to sell adult birds...I understand that, did that, and going back to a closed flock again. It worked out well with a small glitch...hands on close eye knowing the possible problems worked in my favor....just sayin. Creating your line of the breed and being selfish is OK!

Yep, the APA has a hall of fame...only 59 make the list.

Peace..bigz

I just started giving Mareks vaccine..
I have no idea who ships the cheapest. Sorry. I just go shopping and compare prices.
where did you end up ordering?

I am planning on going to Jackson County small animal auction this sat. if can get out of work early. I really would like to pick up couple of pullets. But after been reading all your posts late I am a little worried. I am new at this. What do I watch out for and what do I want to look for? Any information would be so helpful. Thank-You

Bobi - Avoid chickens that appear puffed up and drooping. Swollen eyes, sneezing, raspy breathing, discharge from the nasal passages, bloody or foamy yellow poop. Quarantine anything you buy for 2-4 weeks. I would treat with Eprinex or dust for external parasites on all birds before adding to my flock.

I'm sure other will have suggestions. I've never bought birds from a swap or auction.

I found a nice article:
