Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Del, I think the males are good. Their legs are very red. And they are now old enough to be doing theor thing. It is those darn girls. They just never lay. I gVe u p. And moved them to the coop awhile ago. And they don't even go outside! Just sit in there :/ how are yours? Do they go out? And lay well?
Cs, when I get home today, I will measure the pen for you :) hubby doesn't have blue prints. He just thinks of what he wants to make, and does it.
Off to the swap!
Have a good one!

Well I have 3 pips. One EE, 2 BLRW so far. I woke up to a big temp drop to 93, I got it back up but hope it didn't do any damage. Humidity holding at 65%. One for sure is a quitter but as of yesterday afternoon 9 were internally pipped. Now to sit, wait and hope they hatch. I may of caused enough damage already candling too much and accidentally dropped one and cracked the shell pretty bad but none of the membrane was pierced. Today is day 21 for this batch. In a few days I get to do it all over again. I have a total of 9 different hatches going on in 4 incubators. I must be insane.

Jim I hope your ok!

Gl with the ordinance thing, I'm lucky I don't have to deal with those sort of things where I live, but if I did, I know I'd be fighting.

This weather has made things here pretty difficult. My 1/4 mile driveway is only passable atm with my big truck with 32" tires but won't be long and that won't get thru. The ruts are nearing a foot and half in some spots. With all this extra wet stuff to melt is only going to make things even worse. I have 2 of my vehicles parked up at the road as they won't even get back to the house.

Yvette get some self control!! I know it's hard when you see them to use it.

everyone think positive thoughts for my hatch... I'm concerned....I don't see any air cells (candled day 14 and a few on 17) today is lockdown.... completely dark, there was development in them... this is my first hatch, so I'm nervous!

Well, I wish you... GOOD LUCK

on your hatch! I would not worry about dark eggs candled on day14-17 if the shells are any color but white. It sometimes depends on the light you use, color, and thickness of the shell. Moreover, this is your first hatch, and your temp might be a half degree warmer than you think. Hence, the development of the eggs might be further along than you think. Well, I hope this gives you confidence...and again good luck.

Just sent Cuties on her way, we had such a nice visit! Too bad we do not get together more often.... and her DH was kind enough not to point out all of our carpentry errors...

Not much new here, just waiting for the weather to warm up. The swap was pretty small this year, not much variety and not many birds.

Woohoo..the coop is clean again. Finally a sunny day that is 50 so kids and I went to work out there. Felt good to get that done finally. Five chicks out in garage. I know I have one rooster there...mayh have more, we will see. Our local hardware store is carrying chicks this year, I was surprised. Supposed,to be sexed pullets but there were slot of white dots on barred rock heads. They had barred rocks, buff orps, ee, and RIR. Never seen the RIR babies and boy are they cute little red things...tempting to add, but my other ones are a month old and would pick on those sweet little things. We will see.

Ok, off to play some hoops with the kids before dinner...and yes the seven year olds will beat me...

Well I went to the auction. They pack them in boxes like sardines. I even seen one rooster picking at another because he couldn't move and was bleeding pretty good. So I decided to just bid on the baby chicks. They had all kinds mixed together, just called them rare breeds. So I got a box of nine. I have a couple of each of these plus the ones I will be holding don't have feathers on legs the others do.
