Sorry Sam, duckling had died before I got to your post. I have no idea how long it had been out there before finding it and no signs of anymore or the mama so figure it was left behind. Glad to see everyone had a great time at the bash, maybe next year I'll be able to come.

Best tasting rice cake ever!

And of course nothing will be better than anything Annie makes.

I found out that my DH did not get one piece of either the cake or cheesecake. You snooze you lose I guess.

It's been raining steady since about 3, which is nice. We need a good soaker.

So; recipe for the cake. The web site is:

Once you get past all of her babble, the recipe is at the bottom and there is a link to her flour mix. Anyone wanting to make the flour mix, tapioca starch and tapioca flour are the same thing. I did not make the buttercream frosting included with the cake recipe, I made this one:

I did add about 1/4 t salt to the frosting. When you make this recipe, beat the snot out of it for a nice fluffy, easy to spread frosting.

For the Lemon filling I mixed one stick of butter with one cup of powdered sugar. Once combined I added about a cup of lemon curd (make whatever recipe you like or use canned). Beat this mix until it is light and fluffy.


I checked the turkey eggs tonight; the two I thought might hatch are DOA. I will let them sit in the incubator until Wednesday but I am fairly certain they are toast. When I candled the eggs to see if there was any hatching progress, they no longer had that healthy red tint to the light. Oh well.

VERY busy week this week. The oldest graduates and we have a party to prepare for on top of taking care of the camping supplies and cleaning, and food prep. So I am not too sad about the turkey eggs!

I am glad you had safe and fun time at the bash I would have like to have come to meet the people I read about and that answers my questions. I have to keep a lot sat open because my JOB requires to do mand. sat. a lot. But I do have a question for you I was told these little guys could be yokos and if are I really don't have time for a show birds so do you know anyone that would buy them?

YES--a great time was had by all at the bash! It seems to take so long to get here and then--poof--it's over! So who is hosting the fall bash? Get thinking on it!
We just had a little bit of dinner now....drive was not bad and thank God we didnt have any of the close calls you all had! I dozed and DH took some pics...great. I am really TIRED! (but it is a good kind or tired!)
BL4 that cake was fantastic and yours looked WAY better that that link you posted...in fact, that cake looked NOTHING like what you brought! As usual all of the food was fantastic and I just want to thank everyone for being conscious of others" allergies! It is so nice to be able to eat mostly everything!

I thought I had more to say but I need to go out and lock up...welcome to the newbies! I have Aussies but I just got them into pens before we left so it will be a while before I have hatching eggs or chicks for sale!

Good people, good food, good weather = good time. Nice to put faces with avatars DH is looking forward to more meet-ups. Special THANKS to Bigz his wonderful wife and crafty sweet daughter. Only thing I could have done without this weekend was blood thirsty mosquitoes. Good to know everyone escaped their near misses in the automobiles and arrived safely at home. DD is looking forward to using her goop and loves the soaps. Nuff said time for bed

Hi All! I am alive! I hurt my tail bone and have a few new bruises but I'll live. I slept all the way home. I would have been on sooner but the mouse for the computer broke Fri. and it took a while to get up and running like I like.
Sorry about the phone. I don't get service up there and it got lost in the packing shuffle. I'll find it when I put things away.
With the exception of Sun. morning I had a great time too! I hope my fall didn't ruin it for anyone else.

I'll try to be on earlier Mon. when I know what's missing.

I was pretty beat yesterday too. I dozed half the ride home & was in bed by 9pm.

Add me to the list of not getting to try the awesome cake or cheesecake.

I didn't want to get run over by Cind & Frenchie racing for them.

Whomever cursed us a few pages back with mosquitoes got their wish. Wow, were they bad!

But other than that & Cindy's fall, the bash was loads of fun. Such a great time with good friends. Too bad we didn't get more pics this year.

I am so jealous of everyone who made the bash..I love the bash and hated missing it..


I will think about hosting the fall bash..but I live so far south..one bathroom..partially functioning...I might need to take a plumbing class.


My condolences/sympathies to you and your family's on your loss's and illnesses.

Stacy..I hope your dog recovers. It would be difficult for me to make a decision to shoot a dog..
even if they were killing my chickens..I hope the law will help you recover some financial loss if you take him to the vet...
