yeah, for sure, free ranging cuts the feed bill,, every time a fox nabs a chicken, that is one less to feed..The flock and some loose dogs just lucked out here. One was a spaniel with a collar on and the other looked like a yote....gun in hand a yelling they left without any harm I'm hoping....can't tell if they carried one off, but I think we lucked out today.
Free ranging cuts feed costs better than half ...and it's the way birds are happy.
Dooner...the fox is prolly a female and has hungry kits at this time.....she is looking for a easy meal. Give it a while and then allow the birds freedom.....the most important thing you can do for your flock is to lock up at night...lesson learned, eh!
