Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I went to candle my next batch to set into lockdown and over half of the Brinsea was pipped lastnight along with my home made camper bator. Woke up to 10(9blrw and 1 banty cross) chicks already and today is lockdown. A total of 91 eggs made it and another 130 will go tomorrow. I didn't plan on them all hatching this early as I wasn't done with the new bigger brooders I was making for all of them and I have a visit and appt to see the pulmanologist today so won't be home til this afternoon to finish. They will have to stay in the bators until I'm finished.

Mel, somethings wrong with one of the BLR I got from you, the non crooked beak one. She won't stand up right and kinda curls her feet, she's good weight and is still eating and drinking. I put her in a separate pen lastnight as the roos are seeing her as fair game. I hope she will be ok as I have no clue what is going on with her other than maybe the roos were being too ruff with her as they seem to always fight over her.

Good hatch :)
Our first year we had two act like they were drunk. Their legs wouldn't work. One of the 4-h chicken gurus informed us it seemed to be mold poisoning. And instructed us to pitch all feed. It was the hardest thi g ever! But we did it. Amd no others got sick. Is it possible? We always check the feed as soon as we get it now. And just a few months agao got 3 bags with white powdery dry stuff in it. And returned it immediately. They told hubby that someone else also had issues with that pallet.
I hope she makes it!!

Does she walk funny too? I have a hen exactly like you are describing. I treated her with vit./electros, antibiotics, epsom salt flush, everything I could think of to no avail. Then I thought maybe nerve damage from getting injured? I have no idea what is wrong with her but I keep her separated from the roos too. She acts normal otherwise, and is still laying an egg almost every day so I keep her around. I just feel bad that she has trouble walking. Anyone have any ideas?

Alrighty. And good humid morning.
Had 3 Pekins hatch yesterday. And they're already trying to get out of their warming/relaxing tub! They are really lively. And one even talkative. Might just be a girl. ;)

Let all the duckies out, let them all have a good dive in the pond and locked them in their pens. They knocked over the temp board (til we got the door finished) and headed straight back to the pond! Lil buggers! Just can't get enough swimming in!

Locked all the windows in the house as it's supposed to be 80F today again... At least trying to have it stay cool. Be back later!

Goodness, where is everyone????

We have the sink!!!!! Now to spend the rest of the day getting it back in along with the vanity and counter. :)

GF cake baked, all I have left is making frosting for all three cakes and making a coconut cream pie for a special lady who is coming to the party. Oh, and cook up the meat but that is easy peasy, toss everything in the nesco and off we go.

CS, nobody minded your morning hair. Besides, Jim had you beat for best bead head on Sunday morning.... He looked a bit like Einstein......

Putting the prep workers to work ASAP, I am NOT doing all the prep for this party. :D

About the vinegar on weeds, it does work, just takes some time. Hubby sprayed some on nettles near the apple trees a week ago and there is a big brown circle now. I have forbidden him from using any more roundup on our land.

My husband has been using trimec all over our yard. He accidently sprays he shrubs and perennials a little sometimes. I think I need to take it away from him. We sell all of those chemicals where I work. Its disgusting how many people buy round-up, 2-4D, Capreno, Dimension, Trimec and Element 4 to casually spray wherever they think they need it.

It looks like we have a new hatch master..  are you having any trouble finding enough eggs to fill your trays ?

how many eggs do you have going at a time ?

Yes Jim I am having trouble finding eggs. Before the recent hatches today I had 28 dozen going. So far a doz and half hatched on day 18. I will be adding 5 dozen tomorrow and hope to get another 10 dozen layer/meat eggs Monday.

Her feet are curled and she does move around but not stand up and walk.

Hey Angibuds. I read your posts.... at least when I am on here. Wish there was a like button like on Facebook so people would know that there posts were read. I know mine are skipped by a few cause I've been accused of typing long posts !!!! LOL Missed you at the bash... You too Cutie... You too Heather.... and the list goes on.... You guys have no idea what you missed !!!

I also read the posts, sometime get far behind then by the time I'm caught up seams too late to comment . . . and like others, I don't always have much to contribute. I've sometimes used the "click if this is helpful" thumbs up button at the bottom of a post. It's not as good as the FB like button but it's something

I picked up some mosquito sticks from farm and fleet. They are labeled 100% all natural and deet free and include citronella, lemongrass, rosemary oils. The gnats are sooo bad, I'm hoping these will help, we'll see.
