Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Jim!! I am so happy to hear puppy is back! Awesome way to start your day!

Jim/CC: My concern is, two of the broody hens are starting out with very low body weight as they have been broody for a couple weeks already.

Delish: I was surprised how well she is doing as I keep hearing that Wyndottes rarely go broody! Shes such a sweetheart but her and my LF Blue Cochin are skin and bones already from being broody for the past two weeks. The brooder pen is empty of poo and food hasnt been touched, so in the evening, I take them outside and set them down. They run around like crazy, eat, drink, scream, chase a few hens, then go back and stand in front of the brooder area for me to put them back in after 15 mins
Angie I say leave the broodies be but if you do move her, which i did too

remember you are doing it for yourself not her, which is just fine... My broody just did 28 days rather than 21 because I put turkey eggs under her... I swear there were 3 days with no poops, but you need to remember all she is doing is sitting, not like their very active days walking all over looking for food, so they expend very very little. Once the chicks hatched she took a nice long meal and today is only day one but she is out of the nest box and sitting in the little run all afternoon with all the babies under her. She is a good mom it appears cause she took them outside where we were keeping the food and water and they are eating and drinking curious to see if they follow her back into the mini coop?

JIM !!!! Good thing you asked about the Ice Cream Shop In Elcho being open on Sundays !! For some reason I read Saturday on Waves FB post... Just went and see she said no it is Sunday !!! You were right.....this time !! lol

Looks like someone will be selling Avon there. Just an FYI their Skin So Soft bath Oil is on sale for $6.99 Orig $13. I made several batches of bug repellent and so far I didn't like the recipe that was on the citronella bottle.
Last night I used one that was made with pinesol and we sprayed it on my Belgian. Seems to work good. I might mix up a bottle for my Sister for her to try on her horse. She's coming up this weekend.
sooo. is the ice cream shop going to be open ?

I turned all the penned up guineas loose about 7 PM.. there were instant rooster fights between the outside flock and the penned ones.. Like 15 fights at a time.. more like two street gangs going at it.. It all settled down in a few minutes .. Gus was all too interested in getting into the middle of it all.. I kept him in check with threatening voice commands.. I think he is beginning to understand the phrase, "don't even think of it "

So the lone blrw chick that noone wanted that is babysitting the newly hatched blrw chicks is just a card. I tend to hold onto her alot during the day as she's grown on me being the only chick for some time that I've decided to keep her and grow her out. I'm hoping it's a her as she has no waddles yet. Here's a pic of her on Tasias lap just to show you how dorky this chick is.

Here's the mixture brooder, what a wide variety I have. Only hatched 32 though, I messed up big time on this hatch and had my humidity sky rocketed and couldn't get it down. Drowned over a dozen chicks, at least the ones that did make it should be good and strong.

Hi again :)
kristi, foegot to tell you we have some babies ready. And congrats on the chick!
last year we made the misteke of splitting the turkey eggs between a chicken and turkey. They hatched on the same dY. An d it was a constant battle on who's babies were who's!

Cc, that ad is already deleted! Did you wheel over and get em all ;)

Jim, glad pup is feeling good. Are yoh asking the vet to send those special shots for you or the pup ;)

Lena, it may seem like a lot. But keep hangin with us and that # will sky rocket!

Cs, glad the eye has no permanent damage! How is your injured hen? Has Theo been good since?

Bottle fed kitten is getting big. And naughty!

Now that Frenchie is back, I better leave the long ones to her!

Clark, forgot to say. We called her apple. She is so sweet. I am glad none of the others are sick. Maybe she needs a chiropractor after all the rooster attention. Maybe some yogurt with outmeal for an extra treat :)

Bl4-good luck and I'm glad your app has been reviewed.

Cuties-my hen seems normal and Theo is being supervised. I caught him today just as he started to prance over to play with them. I really do believe he is just trying to play. Especially since he did really break thru the skin.

I was just wondering if some of the chicken problems could be some sort of infection from the affection ?

I just got a call, DD#1 car is repaired already, so I will be getting my car that she took a few hours ago , back .. I hate being without transportation..

I need to go get a gallon of gas to mix with oil for my small tiller..

once again, I have no eggs in the hatcher.. I think I can turn it off for a few days..

Yeah Sandi, it was a Sunday.. maybe I can run up to Wave's .. I think Annie has to work anyhow..

I think I remember how to get there..

Sam are you interested in Muscovy ducklings at all? I have a friend who is trying to dump me with dozens of ducklings and I don't want them but thought I'd try and see if anyone else would be interested in them.

Bf said a couple would be oki but not the entire bunch! Lol. So if you wanna give on that message I'd say 2-3 ducklings is enough. We got around 52 Ducklings right now! Lol.
