WTH is a swan goose? Like a Chinese?

Needless to say, they are a PITA until you get the hang of it, but by that time, you are finished and never want to see them again. A true test of patience........

I kinda think puppy is milking it too, sort of. She is a delicate flower too. A very sensitive baby, but I am sure she will blossom into a wonderful protector. I think she is a total doll.

Most fairs are not APA so any healthy water fowl/poultry is accepted. They do not judge according to the SOP.

Jim, it is funny that your orps are going broody. Both of mine are! Bonnie my sweet baby even pecked me today! Our broodies have never pecked me before. I will try to break them. But if they hold, I willngive them some eggs from the bator.
Yes, my one wyandotte hen I keptnhS been broody three time this year! I finally gave in and let her have two olive egger chicks. She is a good mommy nso far.

In my limited experience, our fair has so far judged to the sop. I ask tons of questions. And the judges have been very helpful so far

bbp, sorry about your chickie. Neighbors dogs can really suck! Ours just got a new beagle. Makes me worry. She got a good zap by the fence when she tried to come over the other day. I do worry if Echo got ahold of her it would be real bad. I don't want another dog seriously injured. But am glad Echo will do what it takes. And has.

You guys are all gonna kill me......I saved a baby raccoon from the dog. Put it in the tree for its mom, but either it's own mom is dead or it doesn't like mom. It is hissing at the mom that is trying to get it to climb the tree with it. Theo is doing his job of barking at them and I am leaving all else alone!

Got 6 eggs today, so all are laying again.

However, I've got one that is broody.

You all know the routine, she sits on them, I pull her off, she eventually sits when there is another egg. Ugh! At least she is laying.

The 5 chicks are all hiding from the adults in the den that the rabbits dug out. For whatever reason, they aren't integrating and the momma has left them to their own and doesn't defend them anymore. If I could ever get the chicks to get on the roost, I think they'd be okay, but they sleep in the rabbit den together.

If anyone went home without a bag for their tent, I think I have it! It's black, says "Moonstone" and has the name Simons written in silver permanent marker.

OMG I was pulling my hair out WITH the special tool (pinched my hand, scratched up my arm etc). I used to put stacking cockatiel breeding cages together back when I had my business (Flights of Fancy) with no issues. The j clip plier handles s were shorter. The ones FF sells the handle is like 10 inches long so my hand cant grip around it far enough towards the end to close...so I have to grip then hold it with my other hand, move my right hand out to the end in order to close the handles. Needless to say, 1/3 of them ended up not closing right!

Awwww Good job saving the raccoon baby! Last week I saw three of them playing along side a busy road down in the cities. I sure wouldn't want to see them around my yard but they are still cute and babies!

Thank goodness my lavender orp, Crystal is broody. She was safe in the coop when the killer came in the yard today. When we found the trail of lavender feathers and she was the only one not accounted for my 8 year old started crying. Then I found her in the coop and realized one of the others was missing her tail feathers along with some meat from her back end. All of the chickens were in the pig pen when I got home and you can see that's where the lavender slipped in to escape her attacker. So, I am led to believe that whatever it was is too big to fit through the holes in cattle panels. The meat birds were right near by, ripe for the picking. It had to have been a dog having some fun. It better not come back. I don't like to shoot guns, but that crossbow sure is fun . . .

bbp-do you have a flock cam? It might be beneficial if you can get one. That way you have proof that it is the neighbors dog!
