Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Judi, come hang out with me at the Poultry barn during fair. My friend, Amy, is in charge of it. She'd have all kinds of great ideas for you to get involved with poultry projects for the 4H kids. We should both go to get certified as testers, too.

Angiebubs, no worries :) my son is not as interested either. He is more a sports buff lol
I think you should go with bbp. If anything it is fun just to go through the poultry barn!
I will be missing t-ball tonight :( forgot I have to work until 7 tonight.

good morning, I would have joined the chatter last night, but this puter just would not navigate.
I turned it off and restarted a couple of times and that did nothing to help.. this morning it is working again..

we are having a thunder storm right now.. I thought I was going to have to water the garden, but not anymore ..

have the tractor problem figured out.. I was working on the wrong cylinder.. it turns out the one on the right is binding.. a little welding should take care of that..

we did manage to get the guinea pen cleaned,, I ripped out the roosts.. going to turn them 90* and shorten them.. thinking of putting hinges on them so I can tip them up against the wall for cleaning the floor.. or for when we are catching chickens/guineas.. don't leave them anything they can hide under..

we have about 50 chicken chicks, and around 100 guinea keets ..

I want to raise some of the delawares up to about 3 pounds live weight and then butcher a bunch of them..
I am going to keep more than a few of the Buff Orps for layer replacements.. the BO roosters will join the delawares in the Nesco slow cooker..

Annie and I had a 4H bunch,, our kids were too young to join, but there were no adults willing to do it.. we did it for a couple of years..

what really corked me one time , we were picking up some of the kids at their home and their mother chided us because we didn't have any money in the kitty.. WTH ? Lady, come on down and help us.. that never happened.. I was very young at the time ,, I wish I could live through that incident NOW, when I finally found my voice ...
I was a contractor for many years and I fought with the IRS for 12 years.. believe me, you get over being shy.. and I am fearless to a fault when it comes to verbal combat ..

cuppa is just about gone.. IDK what to do today,, not like there are not hundreds of projects to choose from..

Whats entailed in testing? I know my one experience with watching/helping a blood draw from a wing was stressful LOL But I am sure it would be easier with time/experience. Will you be staying up there the whole time? The poultry judging is on Friday isnt it? Would have to take another day off work...hmm let me know?

Hello all. Been a while since I was last here. my Husband is back to driving OTR and it limits my time here. I have 6 minions and all the critters to tend to all by myself everyday. I had to come today because I think a few of us may need a good laugh.

My husband got up at 5 this morning and left for work. I rolled over and fell back to sleep until 6:30. I got up, went out to tend to the outdoor animals. Came back in gave the kids some cereal. and told them to get to their chores. I need to clean my bedroom and fold laundry. I am in my room sorting through laundry, reading a bit online and listening to a show on Netflix. ( yes I multitask ) I hear the children fighting. I go out to break up the fight and realize one is crying in the bathroom. I knock on the door and ask him to open it. The child is refusing to open the door. The others come and inform me that Cat, our 11 yr old daughter, handcuffed one of the twins in the bathroom. I am expecting he is tied up or has been tied to something in the bathroom.

I open the bathroom door and see my one 8 yr old son, naked an handcuffed to the bathroom sink cabinet door. He is in full crying with tears streaming down his face. I immediately grab my cell and call my husband who is telling me where he keeps each set of his cuff keys in the house. I check every place my husband had told me he had a set of keys. Now we only have the handcuffs and keys from when my husband use to work in law enforcement. My husband and I had forgotten he had them still. I can't find any of the keys, but realize I can take the handle off the door and free him that way. I take the handle off and free the poor naked little boy who is now laughing over the fact that I am frantic. I figure at least I can cuff the other half to the first one if necessary.

Little boy is very happy to be free. He then runs over to his bed and moves the blankets and there is the one of the sets of keys I have been in search of for over an hour. I tell the boy to bring the key to me. I release him. Take the key and the cuffs and put them in my gun safe. Apparently, we need to go through the boxes in the hall a bit more often.

Yes, I am giggling and I bet that the boys will get her back for this. It shall be fun to see what the boys do to avenge what she did. This shall be a very long summer.

Jim, we would not want to be any other way. Sorry to hear about your SIL.

Fernie, you are lucky BigFam is on hiatus........ stories with handcuffs..... poor kid!

Ang, go for it, you would make a great 4-H leader!

Had a nice visit with BigZ and Suzie this morning. DH looked at the tractor but unfortunately needs a LOT more time to figure out what is going on with it. Already HB some of the eggs and cannot wait to have a fresh salad with dinner tonight! BTW, right after we came home DH crashed..... he is sawing wood right now.

Back to the job boards.........

Me thinks you should have used those cuffs on someone about 6 minions ago..

Ah, but then you would not have had this tale to tell..

I did a general head count this morning,, I have about 30 Del chicks and about 14 BO's ..

bought another bale of horse bedding, going to use it in the nests, and toss the rest on the floor after I clean the chicken coop..

Not that I feel sorry for him. It is the child that gets into all the mischief. Still trying to figure out how she managed to get him cuffed to the sink.

Yes, poultry judging is on Friday. I'll be up there all day Friday and Saturday as well as Thursday evening and Sunday Morning. You just have to poke the bird to get a little blood out for testing
