Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

You are all making me hungry!

Fernie-rotflmao

I found a guy on you tube that has great positive reinforcement videos to watch. They are in line with what Cuties had shared with me at the start. They focus on the dog building the desire to do what you want without asking.
Since I was off to take DH to get his wisdom teeth pulled, I worked on a variety of things with Theo today. This also included a trip to the vets to get on the "nasty" weigh scale. He weighs 58.8 lbs. He will now get on that thing by himself.

BTW- the runt has returned from the rabbit hole, but not the roo.

I need to get cookie in..I will have to go pick up a sedative before I take her. She is hating strangers and is wicked mean with other dogs now. She went after casha today and poor Joe was so upset. They were separated by a fence but it was not pretty.

Fireworks has turned her into a basket case. I might have to kennel her till its over.

Cs, you are still in the right direction :) just keep at it. And I do agree it is a bit of boredom. Jim and I have more land. Room to roam. I think a good bone would make him happy. We give them all the time. And then the chickens steal them from the dogs. It is too funny! But, be careful with adding a special bone. That opens a whole new can of worms ;) you will then need to be sure that he does not posses the bone. You do not want him to gaurd it from you or your terrier or kids or chickens or...... the list goes on.
I think we all want something different from our dogs. I like mine to be completely submissive. And social with other animals and people. It was v ery hard for Scott and I to integrate our beliefs when we moved I together. He never socialized his. And like them to be...strong willed ;) that was unacceptable nto me. I have family nthat enjoys get togethers with the dogs. We have worked it out for the most part. The chesse is still stronger than I like. But he also does a very good job taking carenof the property. So I have to draw a line for myself :)
anywho, now that I babbled...
Just put the eggs in lockdown. I put the very important ones under the broody hens. They have better rates than the bator! Fingers crossed. Nas this will be one of the last hatches until next January ish. I will continue some for Zeek and some more of the Light Brahma.
4-h wasnfu. But nerve wracking tonight. We do not have a lot of classes left before fair. And I alwYs get so nervous for the kids!
Nite all

Jim, I sent you a link to dating those blue jars. Mel was nice enough to send it to me a while back.

Glad your runt returned safely from the rabbit hole, cs. Those suckers can get really deep, and multi directional. Good luck with that, and with Theo training. Congrats on the scale.

Nothing new here. Just more gardening/weeding. Sweet dreams, all!

Hi All!

Lost another hen, one of those just dead under the roost things. She had been a bit pale but not bad and she was active.

Glad at least one came out of the rabbit hole!

Pepper is getting antsy to get her chicks out and about, Sat. I'll set up a safe spot for her.

That's it I guess.... Night All!

Raining again...the garden will never get tilled this year....you can't till a mud pie.

FFF won't be the same without the outside cooker....I'll maybe pull the grill under the roof and grill some cod tonight.

Later...gotta go bag up my strawberries....bigz

good morning,

am I ever glad I tilled the garden yesterday.. did it ever rain here this AM,, still a light drizzle ..
I won't have to water the outside birds for a couple of days.

Nephew Dan is supposed to show up today to shovel out the chicken coop.. I hope he is not a no-show .. after he is done, I want to take the hose and wash the walls and floor real good..

after that I will go to maynards and get some concrete mix and raise the door sill and cut off the bottom of the door.. I might even pour a sidewalk between the coop and lean-to..

the guineas are starting to hatch in the hatcher.. I have not seen any sign of the "wild" ghineas I thought were going to be hatching in the black berry patch..
I never saw a nest, I just assumed that there was one ; the way those adults were carrying on in there..

Annie made a good cuppa today..

Brent, what stream or lake do you catch your Cod ? Prolly the branch of the IGA ?

I have one of the bators turned off.. I hope I am done hatching for this summer..

after this batch is done, I am turning off the hatcher, too..

I will incubate and hatch in just the one incubator from now on until I am all done in a week or two. no, wait,, I am putting chicken eggs in today.. it will be 3 weeks..
well, someday I will be done.

Good morning all! Sunny as all get out here today...we havent gotten all the rain that they have forcasted but the weeds are still growing faster than the veggies...why is that?

Puppies and mama all left last night--it sure was quiet doing chores this morning! I am glad I no longer will have to worry that they are getting out and into mischief while I am gone. Yesterday the mama killed my best looking roo from the project last summer! He was big and black with gold spangles over the shoulders--I hope he fertilized some eggs under those broodies! I was just admiring him earlier int he week too....

CHicken mama is still hatching guineas for me. I dont have a white one any more and amost all of the babies are white this year! Kinda weird...that white one I have must have been the parent of all that I have breeding right now. Today I found a couple new silvery ones...I think they grow up lavender?
I also found some brand new muskovies yesterday evening. THis morning there are 4 babies huddled together in the barn--hmmmm.

Guess I better get off to work--glad everyone is fine...Fernie I love your stories! And now I am hungry for fish! (thanks Brent) I also found your jar of jelly EMPTY and in the sink last week...yeah--I got a taste and that was it! I need the recipe BTW...tons of grapes on the windmill and I will be climbing to get them!

Have a great day! TerriO
