Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Spent a delightful day yesterday out at my Uncle's cabin by Mauston. Had a wonderful visit with my Aunt and Uncle, and my cousin his wife and their two boys..... I only wish the temps were a bit warmer, I do not think we hit 80* there due to cloud cover. The kids still managed to end up sunburned though.... I guess they thought sunscreen was optional on mostly cloudy days.

I have two dogs with kennel cough. My in-laws adopted a new puppy two weeks ago and she came down with the cough after my dogs had paid her a visit. I am a little surprised with how long the incubation time has been on this, but there is nothing else the dogs could have. The Rat Terrier is pretty much over it already, it is the old girl who is my concern. She sounds like she is hacking up a lung. Fingers crossed it does not progress into anything severe. Of course the Pirate dog has no issues at all.

Lovely, lazy Sunday..........

Bl4, hope your old girl will be better and over it soon! It can be nerve wracking just to sit and watch them being so sick...

Cloudy and very humid morning here. Had some rain come through for a few hours earlier and the storm is about an hour away. Also got a message on our answer machine from the brat. Hope that doesn't mean he is on his way here. So far to a nice Sunday...

Jim, The balls under a dollar joke also reminds me of what DH said his grandad let him do when he shot one....
BigZ good idea on the weeds but then we would have to get stamps from the Dept of Revenue to resell :)
Not much new here went to the car lot with DH to look at vehicles/trucks always a nice wish day on Sundays with no sales people to hassle you into buying anything.
Stay dry and unbitten if that is possible these days!

Rainy Sunday here...hope your dogs recover bl4.... and yes mom the skeets are good and healthy here too!

Yep, concrete is nice to have for sure Jim. I should add a piece by the garage for parking the sitting out vehicle. Just a thought, but prolly won't happen this summer for sure.

I wonder if we will have a whole week this summer without rain...sure ain't lookin like it here.

Adult Black Bear in Clintonville this week. It wondered down by the river on the East side of town. We usually have at least one in town here this time of year too.

Have fun....bigz

good sunday afternoon,

I went to Menard's and bought the rest of the concrete I will need,, sale ends today.. I will pick it up tomorrow..

I am borrowing bro Dave's trailer.. then I don't have to rush to empty it..

finally contacted nephew Dan to help me with the rest of the pouring of concrete..

I trimmed a bunch of low hanging branches and picked up a ton of fallen dead branches.. My lawn is getting back into shape really nicely ..

I cannot take any pictures.. my memory card is full.. either get a new card or delete a couple hundred old pictures.. I need another lesson in making picture files..

I was going to answer somebody about something, but CRS has struck again..

........jiminwisc......

We spent the day trimming branches and putting in the last window in the garage. DH will finish insulating the rest of the garage now that the window is in. I weeded and brought the cuttings into the rabbits and chickens. Hopefully the seeds will start and grow grass.

If anyone plans to walk the dogs today I recommend bathing in mosquito repellent...though that may not be enough.

What a beautiful weekend!!!

Any suggestions for integrating hens with chicks into the flock? I have 3 sets of hens with chicks all in cages inside the coop so they have been able to see each other. (One set we call the fosters as its two moms co parenting). Now when I let them out with their chicks, all hell keeps breaking loose. Either another broody hen goes at the mom, two moms are fighting or some random hen attacks the moms.

In the process of setting up our pools so back out to heat and 'squitos!!!

Is it possible to just open the pens so the mother and chicks can movenin and out freely? Usually the other adults will notnenter the pen.

cuties: That is what I was doing today: Opened up two of the cages-one mom went outside with her chicks, the other went into the corner of the coop and all hell was breaking lose. Hens randomly coming after the moms, moms other etc. I ended up just letting one mom and chicks out at a time and supervising their time out of their cages. This is fine when I am home and have the time but when Im gone all day it will sux. At what age do you feel they are old enough to all be together? I was hoping that when they hit a week old, I could let them all out together and they would be one big happy family LOL
