Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Fun with Cuties (her DH and 2 kiddos) and Deli and her DH. Great food and fun. Then I picked up DH & Gpa and headed to my best friends for another 4th party. I must be getting old as I skipped out on fireworks tonight. I can hear the community ones and I am seeing the neighborhood ones. But it is nice and warm plus mosquito free indoors.

happy 4th all... Skeeters are awful makes no difference shade or sun. Neighbors are shooting fireworks and the dog is freaked... DH and I did some rock picking... We have a couple of large trees that are impossible to mow around so I am planting hosta and hydrangia and coral bells and sinking stones for edging, then I will begin the battle with the chickens when I fill it with bark... I rake it in and and they scratch it out.... Saw a beautiful buck while picking stones all in velvet at least an 8 pointers and such a beautiful chestnut red...too bad he is living in the Madison City limits they frown on hunting within the city limits, he did look tasty though.

Oki, back again.

Just finished with a great visit from Stacy. Got to meet her adorable grand baby and her anti-social son. Lol. Talked all this while and had a great chat, and hopefully the bumble on my duckies foot gets better, as Dr. Stacy worked on it now ;) plus, I hope she meant it when she said that she likes our setup here...

Still waiting for the dang racoon to make a come back. as we don't have any traps that big he will be greeted with the gun. Sounds good to me!

Yesterday was just a pretty bad day altogether. Got whined out of bed by the brats dog, saw that no one was really taken care of in the morning and noticed one of my little doggies walking like a drunk. When he bent down to drink he flopped over, got back on shaky legs and peed blood. Besides that he was panting really heavy. A bit later he wouldn't even be getting up anymore.
Took him to the vet, and he didn't even really pick up his head anymore. Severe jaundice, lethargic and the doc found a hard lump between bladder and spleen, most likely cancer. So I let my little teddy bear go to a better place while petting him and telling him one last time that I love him :( buried him later on the property and cried all day and night. I miss him so much already! He always made me smile, and he was so gentle despite being abused before I got him... RIP Buster!

So yes, hard day and night, not so happy a 4th for me. But shall the 4th be with you all!
Now just getting certified and then off to the next swap and selling some of the birds to reduce the birds to a manageable number again.

All birds locked in for the night, pheasant babies sleeping (for once!) and he sits with the shotgun on the roof waiting for the racoon while enjoying the towns fireworks display. Just another day here in the northwoods.

Hope you all had a nice 4th!

Got Storkey all set up in a clean brooder pen with her new batch of eggs.

Guess that's it.... Night All!

Never seen that stuff. But again, up here you're lucky if L&M carries something at all to treat or do something. Besides fishing and hunting stuff and got the better feed. If I want meds or anything else I gotta drive 1.5 hours to Rice Lake to F&F.

about raccoon control...you can call anyone who removes rodents and they will tell you the same thing..

The easy cheap way to keep them off your property is ammonia. They are very sensitive to the smell. I had a mother nesting with a batch of new babys in one of the coops, on the advise of a specialist I tossed up a tennis ball soaked in ammonia and they were gone the next day.
I have for the last few years kept a container of tennis balls on my fridge filled with ammonia. I replace the old tennis balls with new ones every three to four months. I try to hit the nesting season for sure and that is in November-February and April-May usually. They are teaching young to hunt now and baby's are hungry.

Welcome to all the newbies!!

I had a busy 4th of July at the store, dinner at Bethany with my MIL and then I pooped out on the fireworks. It's a bummer to get old! The hubs said the mosquitoes were so terrible they were even biting him so I would have been covered with bites for sure!!

Hope you all had a safe and enjoyable 4th of July - enjoy the rest of the weekend as well!!
