When do you know the apples are dehydrated enough? I don't want them to spoil. How do you store them? I have two dehydrator and that apple peeler thingy. They were $5 at Menards on Labor Day. Bought two. Can't find the first one we have.geez now I have 3!

I let mine dry overnight. To check I take one out and rip it in half. Then you can see if it is dry all the way through. Or take one out and let it cool. It will be firm when it is cool.

Del what kind of insulation did you get?

I have the kind that looks like sheets of dry wall, only colored purple. It will be put up behind drywall/paneling in that room. I can cut that insulation with a box cutter. It should go pretty fast once I start the project. It is the paneling and dry wall that will take longer. I was thinking car paneling would work...I am not sure yet.

Well, I have begun to sell for the dow sizing for winter. Sad last night. 5 went to new homes. I knew this would have to happen fall. But I am still sad.
There will be moer chicks in the spring. And I know I will feel better then.

I let Frankie loose for the first time today,, she hung around the whole time I cleaned out my truck.
then I tied her back up when I came into the house,, she was real good about getting tied again,,

I don't feel that she knows the boundaries of our property , yet.. and I don't want Gus to teach her, because he "gets lost" once in awhile and crosses the road..

I am truckless today,, Kalib GS#2 borrowed it to help Nathan, GS#1, to move out of his mother's appt and into his own.. He wants to live a month alone, and then he might let Kalib move in with him,, Nathan has lived alone when he was in Texas,, but Kalib was never on his own before..
He was shocked when he paid for his first tank of gas, what kind of shock will it be to pay rent ?
buy all his own food, etc, etc ,, we will see..

the guy never got back to me about the roosters..I even offered him a better price.. so I put them onto craigslist .. new game.. p rice just went back up...
don't tell me that you are going to call at 5 and then have me waiting here for a no call..

went to Marathon for breakfast,, saw a lady whose husband I worked for back in 1960 ..

Just met Amyable for lunch in Waupaca, she was waiting for her birds to be processed at Sonday.


Boiling up a ham hock today for soup. Making a barley veg I think..... I should make some biscuits or bread to go with it but I am wiped out from the migraine I had last night/this morning......

The show is getting close..is everyone getting birds in condition? I have not found a day that was warm enough to give baths yet. I sure hope we have a few nice days left. I hate bringing birds into the house to bath and blow dry but it looks like that might have to be this year.

Casha is still hanging in there..she still has some really good days..poor thing can't see worth a lick and walks off the porch several times a day. Joe put a ramp in for her but she only uses it to get on the porch. My legs are black and blue from her running into them on and off all day. She does not seem to know she can't see. Running into Joes rock collection head on..she just shakes it off and hop/runs some more.
